Oh, there is documented evidence that he requested asylum. And that Reno denied it, not once but twice.
After Elian was taken, he could not petition for asylum again because he was then under the complete control of his Cuban government handlers, with permission from the Clinton Administration.
~sigh~
It'll all come out in the wash eventually. Once Castro dies and the threat has been lifted, I fully expect Elizabet's mom (Elian's maternal grandma) to spill her guts on the whole thing.
She was the one who spoke privately to Sister Jeanne, thus provoking thenun's quick position change on whether Elian's father was truly speaking without fear of reprisal.
Thank heaven for small favors!
Heh...last night Luke asked me how many days before he started school. I said "six."
He went running thru the house "Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!"
Thank goodness that Ramius's boat is not affected. I hope they get the fire out before it spreads any further!
I think they did... there were some smoldering boats on the next dock over, but I'm not sure they weren't pulled there after they burned.
If we ever bought on the water like that, we'd be thinking of building a concrete home, even to the roof! A guy in Perdido Key had a round home he'd built to some serious hurricane standards, and it was still standing without damage after Ivan. Now THAT was hurricane proof!
Yeah, there was a whole class of freshmen at Tulane for orientation. They sure got an 'experience', didn't they? Don't know what all those kids who had started school in NO already are supposed to do. If thye left the city they can't come back, and if they're there now, they're being evacuated! There may be a lot of homeschooling going on for the next couple of months!
They've said no school for two months. I think that's a conservative estimate.
You got a strange kid! ;o)
Joseph starts tomorrow and I can guaran-dam*-tee you he ain't thrilled about it!
That's not exactly "Breaking News"
Grrrrrrr...
On Wednesdays I really like to come home after class. Especially since tomorrow and Friday I'll be here until 4 and 5 respectively. But no, DemonLady has to call and say she has to meet with me after 2:30, and then we're probably going to have to change permissions and registry settings on all 60+ machines in her lab.
I swear it's justifiable homicide...
I saw a note on the MA homeschooling message board today from a woman who has her two nieces from New Orleans. They had been in a shelter, and their parents didn't want them to have to stay there for the next two months. The poster wondered how to go about getting permission to homeschool them. The consensus was that she didn't necessarily have to get permission because she isn't their guardian; they are just visiting.
I can't really imagine anyone in those regions hit arguing with homeschooling.
I'd include pontoons and an anchor/tether. ;P
Heh...for some reason I'm not getting any volume on Quicktime, but did I see an army of Sporks?
I think it's a must for RockyMoot!
Oh. Dear. Lord. No.
I MUST find a copy NOW.
I have not seen recent VeggieTales... until two years ago I knew all the VeggieTales songs by heart, now I bet there are songs I haven't even heard.
You did see an army of 'sporks'
The trailers looked great.
LOL! That's fantastic! I want it!
They do have terribly catchy songs, though. Even worst than "Where There's a Whip There's a Way" and the rest.
I'm going to go check out the volunteer job tomorrow.
Heh...apparently the Catholic Charities office is right across the street from the New Belgium brewery. Oh dear...
I'd like to go on a tour at some point! I've only seen beer brewed on a very small scale. It'd be interesting.
