Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Ah, well, back to the world of math and taekwondo.
I have streaming video of channel 12 from Jackson. This is addictive.
I understand Neshoba county got hit as well, not near as bad as Hattiesburg though.

Suziq,
My family still in MS is in Gulfport, but we are from Leake Co., Neshoba Co., and Kemper Co. (Grubbs family).
(I just saw a picture of the twin span (I-10?) into New Orleans. Just Dang. Into and out of NO is impassable.)
okay,
gotta go. taekwondo in 15 minutes.

wo recruiters calling you about the same position That happens a lot, actually.
Hehehehe....I had that happen once. The only thing was that the hiring company ~supposedly~ hired from only one temp agency....so somebody was encroaching on someone else's territory!

Gooood evening! My test got pushed back so I'm here the whole week. *sigh*

I frequent several job listing sites looking for places to apply/send resumes... it's quite common to see the same job listed by 3 or 4 different recruiting/contracting companies. They don't bother to change the generic "requirements list" they get from the employer.

Has anybody heard how the Tabasco Sauce place did?

Keesler is fine where it is. It is HUGH, and I don't think Ocean Springs has any large enough parcels of land to handle everything they'd need. The base has been through two of the worst hurricanes to hit the US in the last 40 years and is still doing fine.

Oops...
For the one I got called twice on, apparently the agencies send job descriptions out to multiple recruiters places. However, you can't be submitted twice by two different recruiters. Heh...that'd have been interesting, though, if they had done that. I'd be competing with myself for employment.

I thought it was pretty odd...
They wanted to know if I had any "organic experience."
Like, totally! :)

I'm depressed not only from watching the footage, but by listening to FReepers argue with each other about every aspect of it. No fargin' kidding. I've really about had it with the live thread... I've only got a few anger-buttons, and they're pushing them all.

SirKit's brother called their sister this evening and he's OK! He, his Parish Office Manager, Liz, who is a widow and lives alone and didn't have anywhere else to go, and Sister Rebecca, who is Director of Catholic Charities for the Diocese of Biloxi all rode the storm out on the second floor of the old convent buiding on the Parish property. During the worst of the storm, they stayed in the vault in the building! He said there was a 24' storm surge around the convent. He has the rectory, the convent, the Church and the elementary school all on the property, and he said, other than some lost shingles, all the structures were still standing. This aternoon, some of his parishoners swam over to the building to make sure they were ok.
SirKit and his sisters were very nervous all afternoon because we hadn't heard anything, so he's feeling much better this evening. He's making jokes about the situation, as you can imagine. ;o) Thanks everyone, for your prayers for him.
I still can't get in touch with my sister Brenda. I sent e-mail to my older brother, George, who lives in Hattiesburg to see if he'd heard from my brother Mike, who lives in Bay St. Louis. That place got really hammered, but I'm hoping his wife talked him into leaving.
