The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

She has a history in the religion wars.

And that's all I'm sayin'.

I don't know who did it...I'm torn between thrilled and mortified.

How did this happen? Did they just leave it in the driveway in the night? Talk to me!

Just accept it graciously 2J. Nothing to be mortified about.

Somebody knew you could use them. They had the resources to get them for you.

Be thankful. End of story.

I got these gift cards and an order form in the mail...no return address, no way to see where it came from...that scared me so bad I almost didn't open it...but then I did.

The postage says it was mailed from here in town.

Okay, I've got to break away from the hurricane coverage.

I promised myself I'd get this one project completed before noon today. I didn't.

Back later.

I don't even know who to thank!

Wow! Very cool!

If there's no return address, I guess they didn't ~want~ to be thanked.

Neat, that's awesome. Don't worry about thanking the person, obviously it's someone who knows you'd be grateful.

I guess the only thing I can do is remember it and pass on a kindness in the future...

A while back some friends in our Sunday School just out of the blue gave us $200. It was the jedis' Christmas that year. I'll never forget it and intend to give that same amount to the HSLDA benevolence fund someday. (The friends in SS were homeschoolers...actually, he was the president of big CHEF at the time.)

It's funny.... the crazier things are, the harder it is to make sense arguing against it.

How do you argue that terrorists ~don't~ make weather?

You're arguing with a nutjob, Hair. Don't sweat it too much.

Prayers requested for my family members. Just found out from my s-i-l that Hwy 90 in G'port is under 6' of water and that that G'port Memorial Hospital has been severely damaged. I had almost suggested that my b-i-l go there because I thought it would be safer! He's at his Parish, which is a mile or two off the beach, so I hope he's ok. S-i-l is leaving work; downtown Jackson is being evacuated. She's going to a friend's house, so we won't be alone.
My sister and her daughter, and her family are in Hattiesburg, which will is getting slammed right now. The main danger at this point is tornadoes. A line of those went through the Pascagoula area early this morning, and the downtown area is flooded.
