Not me. Even if he is technically a good guy by being a member of OOTP, he is a scumbag. I hope Harry waxes him.

Good point. But Petunia's knowledge of dementors and Askaban was obviously intentional in OOTP. How did she learn that. I can't imagine her asking Lily.

As far as that goes, what WAS the original bargain between DD and Petunia?

In the first book Harry is left on the Dursley's doorstep with nothing more than a letter -- and the Dursley's took him in. Why? They obviously didn't want him and could have easily hid the letter and called social services (or whatever they are called in England.)

Then there is the Howler that DD sent Petunia in OOTP. "Remember my last!" I definitely feel that Petunia is going to be figuring more in the next book... but in what way, I have no idea.

However you look at it, the last book will have to be at least twice as long as any other - with all the resolution to bring.

Yet when Harry was having the dreams in OOTP, he "was" the snake. He saw things from the snake's point of view. That would indicate that VM was "riding" Nagani at the time. Prior to the arrival of Wormtail, he was inside her all the time.

Then, he killed that other witch (forgot her name) thus completing the necessary murder for the seventh split, leaving part of his soul in the snake. It stands to reason, therefore, that he could more easily take possession of Nagani's mind if part of his soul is already in residence.

Me too. But I also got the feeling that she agreed to the breakup a little to easy. Like she expected he would say something like that, and was prepared to ignore him anyhow.

One thing for sure... she has guts and determination. I doubt Harry is going to get away from her that easily. ;-)

What makes everyone think that the next book has to coincide with the Hogwart's school year? It might start from the day after DD's death, for all we know.

You can pack a lot of action into a few weeks -- certainly enough for a full length book. Harry might have everything wrapped up neat and tidy before summer vacation is over.

Did he and D set this up so that Snape would be totally accepted by V and the Death Eaters? Notice he wouldn't let Harry cast any of the death spells. Was he still trying to be D's man?

I was thinking all those things. Remember when Harry was told in OOP that he could never do the Avada Kadavra curse because he didn't really have enough hate in him? I'm wondering if Snape's just saying the words but not having the real intent didn't kill D, and D faked his own death for the reason you mentioned. I also wondered about the funeral; lots of flash bang.

Lots of lovey dovey in this one, too. I think JKR was thinking of the girls when she wrote this one. ;o)

I have a hunch it has something to do with Regulas(sp)Black , Sirius's younger brother.

Hmmm. Could the locket be back at 12 Grimmauld Place?

I have to admit, when Fawkes began singing, my eyes suddenly developed a plumbing problem.

Me too.

In this book, she takes her apparation test, which puts her birthday during the school year.

I thought it just meant that she was already 17; she would have turned 17 at the beginning of the school year.

Snape had the perfect opportunity to immobilize and kidnap Harry

He would have had a hell of a time getting him down from the Astronomy Tower undetected with all the OOTP and DA members at the foot of the stairs.

Oh, and word is that JKR started writing book 7 late in 2004. If we're lucky, we might see the next book at the end of next year.

She just had her third child. She's taking a few months off of writing to spend time with her, then she'll get back to writing Book 7.

As Delores Umbridge, I think Kathy Kinney (Mimi from The Drew Carrey Show) or Kathy Bates would be excellent.

I think they'll stay with actors and actresses from the British Isles or Australia. I'm thinking Helen Mirren or Dame Judi Dench would be interesting casting. I would have suggested Miranda Richardson, but I think she's going to do a bang up Rita Skeeter!!

I think Snape took the Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa because Dumbledore told him too. He would have to prove to the Death Eaters that he was their man, to win trust that will lead to the death of Voldemort.

Bellatrix certainly seemed mollified when Snape took the Unbreakable Vow.

I don't think they are dead because of him not being able to see Thestrals until watching Cedric die.
I wondered about that myself, and that is a valid point. But where could they have been all this time?

That was explained in OOTP. He was only one when they died, and he didn't actually SEE them get killed, or remember it from when it happened. He only 'heard' what happened to them when he was in the presence of the Dementors. On the other hand, he watched Cedric die, and carried him back in GOF, so he was then able to see the Threstrals.

I was so disappointed that there wasn't more Neville! He's one of my favorite characters. I was so happy to read that he got one of the last wands Mr. Olivander sold.

I was disappointed that Neville didn't figure too much in this one, too. I liked how Harry befriended Luna, though, and it was sweet how Luna was helping Neville at the end of the book. Interesting pairings, huh? I didn't see the Tonks, Lupin thing at all! That's SO cool!

I'm still wondering about if Neville might be the one who ends up killing Voldemort; if Voldemort guessed wrong when he went after Harry.

As far as that goes, what WAS the original bargain between DD and Petunia?

I never have figured out what Petunia is getting out of this whole arrangement. She despised her sister, so taking Harry in wasn't out of love or loyalty.

I keep thinking about one of the conversations DD had with Harry about the prophecy. DD seemed to be saying (and I was reading quickly, so forgive me half-formed thoughts)that the prophecy itself could be utter nonsense. Voldemort, by his own actions, created the circumstances which, supposedly, fulfilled the prophecy.

I almost got the impression that DD does not think Harry will, or needs to, kill Voldemort. DD was emphasizing Harry's goodness and capacity to love. If Malfoy, who is a putrid slug, couldn't kill DD for his Lord, can we expect that Harry (the good and pure) will be able to kill LV? The thought that Harry wouldn't kill LV is kinda ludicrous to me, but this conversation seemed significant to me.

Is there a way to make things right in the wizarding world without killing Voldemort?

I was also very surprised that we didn't hear anything about Susan Bones. With Ameila Bones' murder she's basically an orphan.

Susan Bones was mentioned in the chapter on Apparitions.
I think Amelia Bones was her AUNT, not her mother.
