Tonight tonight . . . . .
ping
Ping
Is it that good? I hated the original so haven't bothered with this one. Maybe I'll give it a look.
zzzzZZzZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZzz..
click.. uh, Thanks!
I rode with the show for most of the first year.
That lady Prez reminded me of a potential Hillary Presidency
always under attack. ;-)
Actualy, if you hated the original you may like this one.
Those of us who loved the original are a little lukewarm on it.
BTW: When the current BSG is plugged as "Best show on television" that must mean the rest of TV is pretty bad.
Thanx for the ping! I'm frackin ready!
I'll be there if I'm still up when it comes on.
I loved the original and I love the new one. I think the new one is doing a better job of getting to the root of the story the old one couldn't (because ABC sucked... and still sucks). On the other side the new one isn't quite as outright fun as the old one.
You have to admit that it is nice to have a sci-fi network in charge of a sci-fi program.
It makes a huge difference in the quality of the sci-fi.
Yes and no. They've got a better head than the networks usually have for sci-fi, but it also seems to have resulted in sci-fi being gone from the primary networks where it can be encountered by the mainstream. I think this self-cloistering might wind up bad for sci-fi in the long run.
It fills the void in my life since Babylon 5 ended better than anything else did.
Let's face it.
By network standards all Sci-fi shows have been sorta ratings challenged. On cable the ratings expectations are lower and offset by the fact that you have a smart, educated audience with a high income.
Not really. X-Files was semi-sci-fi and got great ratings. Even the original BSG got great ratings but it cost so much to make it needed supergreat (like Superbowl ratings nearly) to be profitable. The DVD sales say Firefly would have gotten great ratings if Fox had only shown two consecutive episodes in the same time slot. STNG got great ratings all the way through it's run.
The big problem is the big network guys just don't get sci-fi. Generally when they sign on for a sci-fi show they're looking for lots of explosions. Then on Fox of course they have that desperate need to kill all their good shows with stupid decisions leaving more room for lame crap like The OC. One of the most telling facts of just how dumb network guys are when it comes to TV is how much they complained during the original BSG about Starbuck acting so manly and flirting and smoking cigars and stuff.
I have to wait to September to see it here in Canada :(
Bummer
yes
Yup, thanks - I'm on it: spinning a DVD in the recorder right now for all 4 scifiChannel shows tonight.
