The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Oh! and I have a new wabbit in the garden. Haven't seen any bunnies yet.

Rochester. How... fun. Are there any cool events at this conference thing? Or do you just get the privilege of days in Rochester?

Instead you stay here and spam! ;-)
Did you see where I found out that I don't have to ~have~ a PCP? I can see an osteopath without a referral and without designating him/her as PCP.

It's in Aurora.
And since it would be a transfer, it would probably be available whenever I wanted it.

I'm tellin' ya. Power went out in my house for 20 minutes and I couldn't believe it.
I never lost power at all with last year's storms and they were closer.

Or do you just get the privilege of days in Rochester? There's a certain she-who-must-not-be-named from the Crusades that lives in Rochester.
I'm sure I could set up a meeting.

Hmmm... well... Aurora's not the best section of town. It's near Denver. People get shot at the mall there occasionally. But you could go a little further south where there's some really nice suburbs. If you want a big change, that is, not just a move to Georgia or something.

Cool things? Depends on your standards. In a couple minutes I am going to a 4 hours talk on Architecture and Engineering Systems Processes and Organizaiton Using the Design Structure Matrix. Not sure everyone would define that as 'cool things' but I think it will be interesting.

That's good! I had another recent misadventure with my doc - the part-time Johns Hopkins instructor. I had a mole I was concerned about. I *knew* it wasn't a cancer but I wanted a referral to a dermatologist for a baseline screening. You'd think a MD would be supportive of periodic screening - especially since I have every risk factor on the list.
But, no. She spent the entire time belittling me for being silly, that anxiety will do me far more harm in the long run, and that statistically the odds of me dying in a car crash were much higher than getting skin cancer at my age. I got my referral finally and a little pat on the head (figuratively). Good think I don't see her for anything important. *grouch*
To: TalonDJ
Ohkay. Better you than me. Four hours of anything... especially with words like "matrix" in the title... not me. Thanks.

Yeah, I've heard that no one really lives close to the office in CO.
Now I know why.

Yeah. Aurora's where the weird things happen. But don't let that dissuade you from a move, just pack heat and commute ;-)

I don't understand anyone in the medical profession who would not take any possible cancer thread seriously.
I was 32 when I had my round with cancer. I went to my regular doc in July who said "it's nothing, but here's the number of a specialist." When I finally got back to the specialist in December, he couldn't get me into the operating room fast enough.

Milk thread. I lost track of the spice thread. Maybe I'll go look for it....
To: Corin Stormhands
Yeah, she's a real piece of work - the poster child for what's wrong with the medical profession. She assumes that the power of the Johns Hopkins reputation will make up for her lack of brain cells.
To: JenB
Yeah, but what's the use of mountains if I'm too dead to see them?
