How do you know what they were singing if'n you weren't there?
Ruthy and Hair...I was wrong about the Gamgees. Left 'em in my Second Breakfast Nook.
They gotta meet you first, hon! ;o)
Don't ask about the hedgehog song...
According to many threads on FR, the best thing is to buy a wife from Fiji.
Well, now that I know FR is back.... I can relax, and hit the couch. ;~D Good night everyone!
Back from Denver...looks like Free Republic was paused while I was gone. Kewl...I didn't miss anything. I'm checking up on threads I was following before I left and there are only a few posts to catch up on. I can live with that...
Of course, if I'd been here all day, I'd be singing a different tune. ;-)
GRRRRRRR....
Some of us suffered ALL DAY LONG here....
Well, I'm pretty proud of myself...I thought I might be able to do something and I was able to do it beyond belief!
First, I must say, I gave up on the kefir. It reminds me of buttermilk and I was hoping it would remind me of a liquid yogurt. It's fine, I like it, but I went down from making 2 QUARTS of the stuff a day (gasp!) to 8 oz. I just got rid of all but a few of the grains, they were wearing me out trying to keep up.
But then I thought "You know if it's yogurt you want, just make some yogurt!" So I got my yogurt maker out and made some yogurt and set it aside to culture. Yogurt, as you may know, has to be heated to about 115 degrees and maintain that temperature to work.
So I made the yogurt, it took 12 hours to culture and well, we ate it almost as soon as I got it chilled. Sigh...it just doesn't make enough!
So I went to make another batch, and I thought "I wish I had my enamel saucepan!" So I went up in the attic to look for it. Couldn't find it, and the heat up there nearly killed me.
Heat.
I checked the temp up there and it was 115 degrees!
I ran back down and prepared a quart of yogurt, put it in a quart canning jar, sealed it up and stuck it up in the attic. Six hours later I had absolutely perfect yogurt! I mean perfect consistency, a fresh tart taste! Just fantastic!
I can actually make a gallon of yogurt if I want to, up in the attic, (depending on the weather, or course!)
Anyway, I feel pretty proud of myself.
Why were you in Denver?
We went clubbing. You should have seen us with the guys hanging on our every word and begging us for dances.
Just kidding - she had some church thing. Not sure if she's in bed for the night yet but I'm sure she'll tell you all about it.
LOL! Dang! And here we are trying to get the heat OUT of our attic!
I can just imagine one of those Legendary Conversations (like the ones that start with "does this make my butt look big")...
"Honey, how much do I mean to you?"
"Meh...about $1600 and a buncha INS paperwork...oops, I mean you are the light of my life, my world, and let's go visit your mother...in fargin' Fiji..."
I'll stick with going to church and stuff, and waiting for the Monty Pythonesque finger to come down and point to the one (if you've seen the "dead bishop on the landing" sketch, you know whereof I speak).
Got thru the FReepless period with a clever :) combination of hitting the pool and figuring out SimCity 4, which will be a long-term project (especially since I won't be playing it 24/7 or even 1/5.
Goooooood morning!
You're too cute! And clever. Who knew an attic could be so useful??
Mornin' folkses.
Need coffee.
Hey! Good morning!
We got up yesterday morning and prepared to can some more jam...Steve went to take the trash out and our trash can was gone! I'm not talking a little trash can, I'm talking one of those hugh dumpster-type trash cans on wheels!
I called the trash guys and told them and they called me back later in the day saying a woman had called in from my neighborhood and my trash can was in her yard.
So I walked down yesterday evening and got it. Whoever stole it also bashed up her mailbax, apparently.
Heh...well, I am pretty proud...the kids just take it in stride that mom pulling yogurt out of the attic is not that unusual and Steve couldn't care less.
You know what? I'm gonna write Carla Emery and tell her! Sounds like something she'd be interested in!
Whoever did that is an idiot. Prolly kids. *rolls eyes*
