The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We'll go to the closest viewpoint.... Johnston Ridge...

Assuming it's clear of course... it's no fun to go all the way up there when it's like it is today!!! :~D

Live cam pic from Johnston Ridge:

Course, since I live linked it, it'll be funny if it clears up and people who catch up later, like Suzi, say "It's beautiful! What are you talking about?" :~D

Great. Now I have to make lens decisions all over again. I had decided to bring a "regular" lens and a wide-angle lens and leave the telephoto at home.

The wide angle is good for the mountain shots... Only thing you might want the telephoto for is if we see elk. There's a lot of elk up there :~D

Morning. I'm sick, so I slept in. I'll still be at work first, you just wait and see.

I want to limit the carry-on luggage to two pieces (one piece will be thelaptop) and if I bring the telephoto, I'll have to pack the camera bag. So I want to pack the camera and lenses in the "regular" bag. Hmmmm.....guess I need to take the combat knife out before I get to the airport.

I'm the only one in my particular office. So I'm sort of playing hookie. Got my music on loud, just ate cake, painted my toenails. Got my work done already - today's todo list was short. So....

Slip-on shoes! Or at least shoes that you can easily get in and out of. And socks. It's icky to go through security barefoot.

Oh and avoid the underwired undergarments just in case you're a random woman. Such things tend to slow down the process. ;)

We had some unexpected visitors in our back yard today. A Mama turkey and two of her babies were chomping on the weeds!! They stayed for about 15 mins. A few minutes after Mama sauntered back into the woods, I saw one of the babies come out of the weeds, left behind. He took off toward the woods, and we heard him chirping, then Mama gobbled an answer to let him know where she was. She was farther back in the woods, but it was hard to see her.

They were so cute! I took some pictures, but I'll have to find the cable so I can download them onto my computer.
