The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

As long as it tastes good, that's the important thing!

I thought of you when I went to the King Arthur store last month. Remember all those yummy baking chocolates they had?

Chocolate has all those good anti-oxidants. The darker the chocolate, the more anti-oxidants.

And I don't need a lot of sugar.

Yes, I most certainly do. Mmmm...I got a bunch of the dark chocolate disks. They were very good.

And it's hard to eat a TON of dark chocolate. Lot easier to go overboard on the ligher stuff.

*sigh*

Now I really wish I had some. At least I have my other source of anti-oxidants: coffee. ;-)

Red wine has anti-oxidants, right?

I love apple butter...but peach butter sounds even better. Love peaches. If they're in season, I should check prices on 'em next time I'm at the store...

I remember when we first moved here...I went into a store and smelled the most heavenly peach aroma...I saw a display in front of me that said "California Peaches" and I went over and picked up one and took a big whiff. Smelled just like cardboard. I thought "Where is that delicious aroma coming from?" I went around the other side of the display and it said "Porter Peaches" (from Porter Oklahoma) and I picked one up and sniffed and oh, the scent was so good!

Now here it is, years down the road and the owners of that peach orchard are homeschooling friends of ours from church and that's where Steve hunts.

They gave us these seconds this time, but I have bought peaches from them in the past that were so perfect that they were flawless. Out of an entire bushel, we only could find TWO that had any blemish at all and they were still perfectly good enough to eat.

All I'm saying is that when I go to the beach, I have a tank top for every day of the week...

Copter!!!

Lovely!

Raft...hmmm....I dunno. I once canoed in the Boundary Waters and got caught up in a storm on the lake...white capped waves and all...I were not a happy camper.

Calm placid waters...that's for me. Houseboating...that would do. ;0)

Houseboats don't do too good on whitewater.

LOL! I'm thinkin' finding a trip that caters to all the various phobias is gonna be tricky...

Personally, I'll try just about anything once. Except things like, say, driving in a big city.
