Our German exchange dude is going back to Germany today. He brought doughnuts and chocolate this morning.

Thanks for the number. I saw that as well.
I'm checking with other folks they may be in contact with. I'm pretty sure he gets his email on his Palm Pilot-ish device.
My b-i-l has work friends over there. He talked to one this morning who says she's okay. And he says it's not likely FRiends were out during rush hour.

Did you add any lemon juice or citric acid product to the peach butter? I know that apple butter is very brown, so maybe that's the way it is SUPPOSED to look.

Yes, Fruit Fresh.
It tastes great, so I guess I won't worry!

The German guy brought the Germany-strength chocolate with likker. :D

Mmm...German chocolate...

I'm around. Been trying to kind of read the London threads, though there's so much information at this point that it's hard to know what's real and what's speculation. I guess I should leave off 'em for a bit.

Unfortunately our returning exchange dude is a tee totaler. No chance he'll bring back likker chocolate - unless he doesn't realize it's likkered.
To: RMDupree
Yeah, hopefully when I get to England I can at least swing up and visit Scotland. But England's my primary focus... at least see London, Oxford, and some of the famous spots.

Heh...had a gal I worked with send a big box of chocolates to her very strict ol' granny, not realizing *lots* of the filled chocolates there are filled with likker.

Guess I could always do baker's semi-sweet choclate squares with brandy chasers.
To: Overtaxed
I like the Mon Cheri chocolates (they're actually made in Italy, I think) that have some sort of liquor and cherries in 'em. I *think* you can get 'em in this country, but I haven't had 'em in awhile.
Heh...but dark chocolate and brandy could be a very nice combo.

*swoon* German Chocolate! Got some yesterday from the commissary (they import it direct) in honor of yesterday's "it's good for you thread."
To: RosieCotton
Bet that Cupboard store would have them.

They're probably importing "American strength" chocolate.
To: Overtaxed
No, the labels are in German w/ English stickers stuck on top of the ingredients list. Post commissaries are *vey* good about getting the real deal. Too many German brides shop there....
To: JenB
Mostly they have bars, and I don't think they sell anything alcoholic...but...you could be right.
I'm better off not knowing.

I like the 70% stuff...really dark.
Not that I *don't* like milk chocolate, but...

I'd always thought I'd like to be in London for Christmas. I wanted to attend the Christmas Lessons and Carols at King's College Chapel because I imagined it to be so beautiful with candles and decorations for Christmas to go along with the gorgeous music. I found out a couple of years ago that the chapel is completely BARE, except for candles. I also found out that it's a first come first served kind of deal and if you don't stand in line all day, you don't have a prayer of getting in. Kind of burst my imagination balloon, I can tell you.
Maybe I'll just go over during the Spring or Fall, instead, when it's not too cold. I can just continue my tradition of listening to the program on shortwave via public radio on Christmas Eve while I'm wrapping gifts.
