The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Rosie, can you go look at my computer? Pull up the Nero window and see if it needs to have 'ok' selected in a little message box about disk overflow. Don't worry, most of them have had that message, just hit ok and I'll check the disk before I take it out.

Not like I think about it all the time but I am ready to start looking.

Just keep your standards high!

That's about the color of our foyer and upstairs hall...which needs painting again...

~sigh~

May I humbly recommend having Monty Python on whilst you paint? It improves the experience immeasurably.

When I was in college my only thought was the brand of beer I was going to consume. The thought of finding someone to settle down with was far from my thoughts...for a time when I was grown up....which was 'bout 7 years ago.

Good suggestion. However, the foyer is down on the list.

Once we get the kitchen floor redone, I'll paint in there. And I still need to paint our bedroom.

Heh, which is why I'm not interested in the two college guys who've shown interest in me since I've been here... plus they weren't anything like me, so I just sort of discouraged them and they got the hint.

There's this guy now - ugh, he's only interested in me because all the other women are gone for the summer and I can't get him to leave me alone.

Didn't have an OK option, but I hit the button that said something like "Proceed anyway". Hope that was right!

Yep, that was right! Now it'll be burned and I can start another right away when I get home.

I used Pride and Prejudice on the bedroom.

Aaaack!! Canned biscuits!

Yeah, a sacrilege, but when you got a family of 8 kids, you go for all the conveniences you can find! Mama made good scratch biscuits, but she was into convenience!

Uncle Sam's Cereal is high in flaxseed as well, and is pretty tasty.

What do you know about the margarines like "Smart Balance" and the others that don't have trans fats. Are they OK if you're trying to keep your cholesterol numbers down?
