The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Wine goes with everything.

The wine was necessitated by the ancient Disney movie. With Vikings. In the Arctic. It's just baaad.

Well, our cannas only broke ground a couple-three weeks ago. The biggest isn't but a foot or so, rest 4-8 inches, yours aren't doing bad at all.

Tomatoes are coming on, the green ones are the size of romas now. We've had fresh basil pesto on pasta a couple times already.

Friend at work only got a couple of quarts of jalapenos last year. So he planted five. Heh. This must be year for them. His five plants are loaded. We had a poor harvest last year so we didn't plant any this year.

SSQ had a fantastic appetizer a few weeks ago. It was a jalapeno stuffed with a big shrimp and cheddar cheese, then wrapped in prosciutto, dipped in tempura and fried. He said it was yummy. I don't do jalapenos, so I have no idea, but he loved them.

Oh, gosh, you know that?

One of the stupidest movies I've ever seen. Good for some laughs, of course, but stoooopid.

Some very, very odd Disney movie from the early seventies called "The Island at the Top of the World". With a lost Viking colony. And a zeppelin.

It was just beautifully bad. Wonderously, amazingly so. I loved it. :-)

I'll agree with that. But I only had one glass of wine and it needed four or five.
