The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'd think seat level could make a big difference, too. I wonder if the seat has scooted down a bit. Could that be?

Ha! Good guess, Rosie! Found this on Bicycling.com:

When You Say Ow! My...Knee

Try Tweaking Your...

Saddle Position: If the backs of your knees hurt, lower your saddle. Pain in the front or sides? Raise it. If they hurt on the outside, try bringing it forward a bit.

"Pedal Without Pain" (Halfway down the page)

It's certainly worth looking at!

Ok! I'll try raising it an inch or two, then! Thanks.

Mmmm...guns...

Yeah, those would be another thing to check out in person, so to speak.

We should do that soon, too.

Just find some way to blame it on the squirrels. :)

Time to go walk.

I think we could get more for them on the black market.

It's probably less shady, too.

Hmmmm.....

I think you need a contagious airborne virus. Maybe if someone joined smallpox with a flu virus....

Just thinking.

Or a SARS type of deal? Maybe add some boils or something in for color...

Yeah, something like that. I just thought airborne would be easier to infect everybody.

Unless you want to put it in water and have everybody worry about whether they've got it or not.

Smallpox is airborne isn't it? At least it's contagious. I want this group of people (my main characters plus anonymous others) to be at risk but not the population in general - that's why they're in quarantine, so other people don't get sick.

Spots, at least. Nasty delusional stuff. Contagious. Not more than 50-60% fatal.

http://www.partnersforimmunization.org/smallpox.html

I think it's spread mostly through "saliva droplets," according to this site. It has a small window of opportunity to spread to others naturally. Found some stuff about making it airborne for bioweapons but haven't read any of the articles yet.

Heh, squirrels hmmm. I think I got the right targets for you. :-) Bushy tailed tree rats.

LSA on the other hand is a bit too tender-hearted to use squirrels for targets, even if they are on paper. She much prefers the standard human silhouette target. Once she shoots the 'center of mass' out of the target, she can practice head shots. BTW-LSA asks do you like Blue Cheese
