The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

*shudder*

Though the one that really creeps me out is "Rear Window". I hate anything that involves being trapped. Ugh...

Oh, yah, hey, born in Iron River, got my degree from Tech. I seriesly start thinking about moving back to Houghton/Hancock this time of year...

But Rose would not like it for longer than a visit, methinks.

Was it Murder by Decree?

Take pictures!

What, of us biking on real roads?

"And *this* is Rosie in the middle of the road after she got hit by a bus while she was trying to negotiate a turn...

Heh...I'll figure it out. But I've never ever lived somewhere with multiple lanes of traffic...little nervous about that. Obviously bikes don't play in the middle of traffic, but at some point you DO have to cross roads. Scary.

That's the one.

Pretty good, though there were lengthy scenes that did nothing in the way of plot development and didn't seem to fit in. Seemed like someone had forgotten to send it to the editor at the end.

Yup. I thought it was amusing. Or maybe that was the lemon drop. Vodka is tricksy stuff.

One of the funniest David Letterman shows I ever saw was after I drank several shots of vodka.

Evening ~again~ folkses...

Got to SFO OK. Now have a couple of hours (or more) to kill. My flight up to SEA shows 'delayed' for status.

Swell.

I don't do shots. I do deceptively innocent mixed drinks. And I want another but I don't know that I should have one.

That does look cool, at first glance - is it steampunk? It looks kinda steampunky.

Yes it is, although the creators prefer the term "gaslamp fantasy".

That's a genteel term. Probably appropriate for a comic with a name like that. I'm more the steampunk than gaslamp fantasy girl myself, of course.

Huh. Pretty good so far. And fairly new!

I like the background art and the carefully detailed world. Not that fond of the character design but it's not too busy, which is one complaint I often have, and it's fun. Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome.

As to its being new... I picked up issue #1 of the comic book (which the GG101 storyline is scanned from) in 2001. But you're right, it is fairly new to the web.

Oh, so they did it backwards? Had a print version and went to web? I've only ever heard of webcomics that make it into print (and darn few of those; MegaTokyo's the only one I've seen in bookstores)

That's my English Harry Potter volumes!

That's the set that I have!

Love the bikes! Y'all are gonna have fun, especially since Ft. Collins is pretty flat, right?
