The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

At one point, I woulda at least known "Diamond", if not the "of Long Cleeve" part...but I looked it up this time.

And I see the other question is answered...

I wrote him back and said I have a sneaking suspicion that a FINISHED THESIS would have the exact same effect on me

You're a one note samba these days! ;o)

Sitting here waiting for the hurricane that never came. We've had rain since last night, and some strong wind gusts, but it hasn't been too bad. We're not sure if we're going to the Casino tonight;depends on the weather. If it's not too bad, we're going! We're having a great time, regardless of the weather. One of the cousins who had never made it before came this year, and it's fun catching up with her.

Later Gators!

Grumble, grumble, grumble...

Good thing I went in...one of the pumps was leaking.

Bad news...spent the rest of the morning troubleshooting the blankety blank thing. And the peaks still weren't coming out in the right place.

Got another instrument running samples but had to wait for it to finish an overnight run that someone else had going.

Grumble, grumble, grumble...

Some blankety blank varmint ate the leaves off my parsley.

Grumble, grumble, grumble

Afternoon OT, wow, what a difference a week makes...

Time to set in the rocker in the sunroom with that new rifle across your lap. OT 1 Steekin Varmits 0

Sure turned out to be a nice day, wonder if the grass is dry enough to cut? Well, wondering don't get it, better go check.

Naaaahhhh...too wet. I think a rifle round might end up in the neighbor's back yard so I think a BB gun would do the trick....steenkin' varmints. I put some fresh cat fur out there.

Touched up the ceiling with antique white. Now I'm playing with the ceiling fan and trying to figure out how it's supposed to hang whilst I'm making the electrical connections.

Okay....got the mounting bracket up. Think I'll wait 'til tomorrow to mount the fan.

Now. What's for supper?

Labor-intensive, delicious, roasted beef. Mmm... it smells good already and dinner's an hour away.

I think I'd better clean the collards...and find something that goes with collards.

The steak is for tomorrow.

Um... does anything go with collards?

You can have some of our roast if you figure out how to get here in the next 90 minutes!

Transporter's not working today and Mr. Scott is on vacation.

Pork or chicken usually go with collards. Maybe I should just bake a sweet potato.

Oh, well. Stop by next time.

Pork's always good... and there are many upsides to chicken. Protein power! Must have protein!

Hmmm... well, then.

Mmm... bratwurst... though I prefer beef or pork brats.
