The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

After consuming defrosted meat, I feel fine after nearly 24 hours.

Eek...not the way I'd wanna go about testing! ;-) But I'm glad it turned out OK. Hope the ice near the ice maker thingie is no big deal...maybe just from condensation or something?

2JM - hope Steve got a good catch on his data;

OT - can't garden, guess I'll play downstairs. Got some more arrows to fletch.

See ya later, OT!

Rosie, you know what I think? And it's just a hypothesis...I think there was water in it all along, from when Steve disconnected it...but it actually never got cold enough for it to freeze. It got cold enough to keep the food frozen in the inside of the freezer but just not quite cold enough to freeze the water in that pipe back behind that panel. Then ultimately it even quit getting cold enough to freeze the food in the top of the freezer.

I don't know if this is what happened...but I wonder if the ice coming out of that thing isn't a good thing! I'm watching it carefully. I froze icecubes on the top shelf last night, so it's definitely cold up there now.

You could well be right!

You'll have to give us bulletins at 24 hour intervals until we're sure it's working. ;-)

I imagine he did, it was a gully washer!

After he finishes with his work, he's just going to stay at the office and work on his paper. That's how it's gonna be till he finishes it. EVERY SINGLE DAY. He had to come home last night, to fix that turbine on the roof before it rained again...I had a list of things for him to do, so he didn't get a break. LOL!! But after church tomorrow, it's back to the drawing board.

He has GOT to finish that paper...I have GOT to get away from the LATS! We need more chickens!!

Well...off to finish my coffee and do a bit of reading. I'm rereading Wuthering Heights. I'd forgotten just how much emotional anguish there is in this thing. Has to be taken in doses...

Wuthering Heights!!! I love that book!

I'm off to vacuum out the pool for company tonight...Celeste's kids are coming over to swim this evening while they go to a deacon's party. (Steve's never been asked to be a deacon...probably because he yelled "CRAP!" during the service one time.)

Slavedriver!

Glad the freezer seems to be working. I think my workout yesterday did some good, I feel achy in the right spots today. And it's gorgeous out, so I should be able to get in some cardio.

Attention all hobbits, dwarves, and those not sure what they are:

To remind you, we are doing a chat view tonight at 9 pm Eastern, of FotR EE. The chatting will be held in the usual place. We'll wait until we have a quorum to hit "play", everyone else can jump in when they arrive.

(That said, we're going to be really embarrassed if Blockbuster's copy of FotR EE is loaned out).

Sorry if I forgot to ping you, or if you can't make it.

Back home, my sisters and I bought them together. They objected to my taking off with the disks. Rosie's got EEs of TTT and RotK. We'll buy FotR someday.

Freezer isn't making any humming noise. i think it's going through a defrost cycle...the water is dripping from that pipe that was stopped up into the pan as it should. If it started humming again within the next hour, I will breathe a sigh of relief and call it fixed. (The defrost cycle lasts 40 minutes, IIRC.)

what was the name of the hobbit lass Pippin eventually married?

Diamond of Long Cleeve, though I had to look it up. Did you know that off the top of your head?

What nickname did Bandobras Took win for himself at the Battle of the Greenfields?
