The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

See, I'm really good at reading subtitles, so I have time to pay attention to the language.

For me, the language just becomes background noise, like any other sound effect. Odd of me, I suppose.
I think I'm going to re-read The Golden Age, by John C. Wright. I first read it sometime last year, and enjoyed it (and the other two books in the trilogy as well.)

Enjoy!
This movie keeps getting silier and sillier. I think they just drove off a cliff.

Goooood morning! Saw Mom off to my brother's house yesterday evening. I think she had a nice visit. May have to go rescue her from my brother's house on Monday if the SIL starts getting difficult. *sweet smile*
But! I'm going down to visit the cutest niece and nephew ever in just a bit. :)

Waiting for the thunderstorms to come through. Then I'm going to see if I got useful data from last night's run. 'Supposed to rain on and off all weekend so I expect I'll get the ceiling fan up today.

More than The Shire? That's right. What's your question? =]

Technically that answer is only partly right - it was worth more than the Shire -
and everything in it.
Um...question...yeah...well, I haven't had coffee yet, but how about...what was the name of the hobbit lass Pippin eventually married?

Good Morning, Gypsygirl has had her long walk, been deheading the daylilies, the asiatic lilies took a pretty good hit in the windstorm, lost a number of them. But elsewhere the flower beds look pretty good.
OT - heading to the bullethole to check it out? Gardening doesn't seem too likely today.

Dunno....thought I'd make a run down to Stilwell to see if I've got data (instrument time is going to be scarce next week). Thought I'd get the ceiling fan up and do a little house cleaning.

Good morning!
The storm blew through here early this morning...so Steve got a good sleep before it hit.
Freezer update: After consuming defrosted meat, I feel fine after nearly 24 hours. A peculiar thing was noted...the tube where the icemaker water attaches has ice coming out of it...a first. I'm not sure whether this is good or bad. There is no ice accumulating in the bottom.
Nugget update: They're growing like crazy! The feed restriction yesterday seemed to be positive thing...they were to the point of doing nothing but eating and they could hardly walk they were so stuffed! Taking them off the feed made them much more active during the day. Also, these chicks, due to the decreased interaction with them, are much less tame. They run and squawk when I try to pick them up.
I'm planning on making a bigger tractor this weekend sometime.

Morning!
Maybe you should get one of those thermometers that record the temperature on paper charts.
It's raining now and is rather gloomy. I've got some houseplants outdoors to soak up some rain....just have to remember to bring them back in before the rabbits eat 'em.

Is there such a thing? Probably should at least get a simple freezer thermometer, anyway.
Yep, got my plant outside too! It's soaking up sun right now though...storms are over.

Yes....we used to use 'em for the lab refrigerators and freezers before we started recording them by computer.
