The Hobbit Hole XXII - ...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
...Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

He hung out with Isildur...wasn't he the only one that made it back alive after the orc attack...?

Welcome, a bit belatedly, it seems. Another pistolero and hobbiteer is always welcome.
To: Petronski; ecurbh
Heh... I was thinking of asking ecurbh to post *the* Shelob pic (I think he'll know which one I mean...)

Who was Ohtar? I had to do a LOT of looking before I discovered that he was Isildur's squire who bore the shards of Narsil back to Rivendell. However, since I looked it up, I don't get credit for it.
What did Gandalf say that Bilbo's mithril shirt was worth more than?

They were ravens that lived on the Lonely Mountain and talked to the dwarves.D'oh! It's been too long since I read The Hobbit. But as least I guessed right that that's where they appeared.
wasn't he the only one that made it back alive after the orc attack...?
Correct! He was Isildur's squire, who survived the Orc attack at the Gladden Fields and brought the shards of Narsil to Rivendell.

Been following the freezer story, glad it turned out OKAY.
We were walking Gypsygirl tonight in the northwest corner of the shire, lots of limbs down. Walked to the park last night, but the Osage trees there were fine, unfortunately. No free bow wood this time around.
Looks like your advice on shoes and spiders was spot on. :-)

While looking at the Winchesters, check out the new Marlin lever actions. .44 Mag and .357 Mag. with octagonal barrels, that's the way they should be IMO.

Insert picture of "bring out yer dead". I read ahead, and know you are still with us. Glad to hear it.

I don't mind, as long as it's from Jen. =] since my dad and four brothers aren't on this thread, I shall ask g'nad, Corin and Talon to stand in their places.

Thank you sir.
G'nite folks. Gotta go install pool lights in the a.m.
To: Oberon
I'm sure someone has already asked what Theoden's sword's name was?
And how many teeth Gollum has?
I missed the second one but was the only person to get the first one at the contest at the premiere. Missed also "Who was originally supposed to play Aragorn?" Which got me second place.

Good location, but a little pricey if everyone can't make it. Let's bookmark it.

No, the one that bit me was a redheaded pharmacist with no sense of personal identity or soul. Her mother's pawn, donchaknow.
What a relief!
