This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I seem to have lost a post!
900 took ages to come through after posting, does anyone else have this problem sometimes?
Yeah - that happens sometimes... sometimes post show up instantly, sometimes it takes a bit. Never fear, it ~will~ show up eventually.
Congrats on the new 'puter!
It will mean we will be able to go on FP on vacation!
It will also be really helpful for looking online at real estate in the areas we are going and getting maps. : )
He owns one of the stallions I use for breeding and he's a very good trainer. He just had this breaking rig built from an illustration he saw in a 100yr old book. He says it works very well and allows him to start a horse more quickly and safely than he'd been able to do with a ground slide. He breaks all the horses he trains to harness before he breaks them to saddle.
Hope is the one who's changed color so much since she was born and she's still doing strange things with her color. It's like she want's to be a seal brown roan. Here's a picture I took of her yesterday evening. She's a little chunkier than Grace...
She's gorgeous - hard to believe she's not yet two.
Don't that drive you nuts! Every time I fill up, mine tells me "low fuel", then the gauge will fly back up, and the light goes out. I don't trust it, and won't let it get below a half tank.
If I understand it correctly, grey would modify the original color.
Good morning, 53' and raining here again, rained all day yesterday. However, it is supposed to reach 80 on Saturday :)
Well, I walked out without getting it fixed. I didn't like the guy's attitude at the shop. He said there is no fuse that controls the gas gauge, and that it'd be $82... An hour's labor, just to find out what the problem with it is. I walked out. I think it's worth $100 to fix it, but not $100 to diagnose it, and another $100 or more to fix it.
We're gonna take it to my dad's mechanic next time we switch trucks. Someone we can trust to not just name the biggest number they think the blond will pay.
Another pretty baby :)
Yes, Truly is the mother to both, but the new foal, Ellie, is also a half sister to Hope, Bluebell's last year's filly, coz they have the same sire. To add more confusion, Bob and Blade also have the same dam, and I bred Bluebell back to Bob's sire, so hopefully next year I'll have a full brother to Bob. It's kind of a "Who's on First" kinda thing! ;o)
I was beginning to think she was just gonna be black, but yesterday I was out playing with her and noticed that she had a place where the hair was rubbed off a little bit on the inside of her thigh and it was coming back in roan, so I was tickled pink. She's gonna be even prettier than Grace I think. She has a wonderful high head carriage. I know that's not something you want in the QH world, but it's very desirable in the gaited horse.
Sorry I am not posting on the same day, but I have to say I agree with Pay No Attention about your photos. That is a very gorgeous place. I wish I had horses and lived there!
Tuffy, what part of Texas do you live in? I am just north of Houston and there are lots of trees and shrubs here. I wish there were horses to ride too!! At least ones I could get ahold of.
Thanks... My apologies are sortof hollow I guess, I love to take pictures ;~D
