This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Ping Deaconjim to 615!
Well you are certainly blessed with such a beautiful cabin and surroundings. Is this the place that you had built "turnkey"? We are seriously looking for acerage and are undecided whether to go for having a log cabin or an existing old farmhouse. We are more than capable of doing the interior work ourselves, but I am finding it hard to come up with a ballpark price for the cabin.
"and probably have hurt myself:')"
LOL! That is how most people get hurt when surprised by seeing a snake where they least expect it...... : )
I'd absolutely agree with you on AQHA halter horses. Halter should show ideal conformation, not the exaggerated muscling as if a human bodybuilder is the perfect athlete. They aren't. ;~D
I think Arab halter horses are built nicely, they just usually like them a little more wacked out than the average pleasure personality.
The place is gorgeous, estrogen! Wow!
Please, post more! you aren't taking up too much room!
Well, I do have extended family in MA... grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins. My immediate family, however, is mostly in AZ.
This is our front yard this is looking up at our cabin from trail head
Hey - I take a lot of blurry pictures when I go out... trail looks great! Is this private property you ride onto? Whats the setting? Who made the trail?
Well, it looks like you two will have to get together for a ride!
We bought the package and had the Amish put it up. My husband put up some of the interior walls that separate the rooms. He also put in the bathroom. If you look at the pictures you wouldn't believe that the property used to be all trees with grape vines. He cleaned out the whole area. He is very handy,I never could have done it. Like I said though he is retired and had the time. It took a long time to get it where it is today.
I'll perhaps laugh, if you tell me what I am lookin at!
they are our trails. Originally they were made by the previous land owner for ATV's....perfect for horses. We have 83 acres and our neighbor has 120 acres we have access to.
How wonderful.
So did you do well on future rides after the initial mishap on the hill? Did I miss a followup post? Tell us about how you and Waylon did on trail all by yourself!
What a beautiful place:).
Please post some more, you can't post to many here:)
How's your finger? Did you ever get Waylon back to that hill?
Becky
We did great. He was really very good after that one mishap. He did spook a little when a bird flew by (lol)
I can't tell you how great it was. I can't wait to go back.
How great. Glad you had such a good time!
That's great. He'll get use to the birds:)
How often do you think you will be able to go? How far a drive is it from where you are at now:)
Becky
