*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Finally got over to my friend's house to see her new babies. Both colts. The colored one is by He's Pretends, or something like that. The sire did die at four yo. He was an Impressive bred.

This is a Dreamfinder bred colt. No color, but has characteristics. His momma placed in the top ten, at the Nationals a few years ago.

We are going to try and go see the pony stud this week sometime.

This one is not too good, the way the mare is standing, but it gives you a pretty good idea, where that baby gets that nice build. She's a Grand Champion halter mare, and this is her first foal.

BTW, my daughter has a big bruise under her arm. The horse she was riding, slipped going around the second barrel, at a show Sunday. Horse and her went down. The footing was not the best. She has gotten into this contesting kick lately. She did win some money on poles,so maybe that's it..lol

Oh cool...I been thinking about you. Sign onto Snapfish, upload your photos. Better yet, go to the "Who's Who's page at the top up the thread and read Hair's instructions. She give great details on how to do it.

I can't wait to see them.

Is the mare Impressive?

Sorry about the slip...part of the game:(. I love poles. I wish they had as many jackpots doing poles as barrels. Poles are beautiful to watch too, horse looks like it's skipping when they are weaving thru them and changeing leads.

You guys talk about the pleasure horses, the halter horses are the ones that get me. Some are so massive, that they could never be ridden. I love a nice stocky built, but when all they can do it stand, it seems such a waste.

A point show circuit that we used showed at, had all breeds of horses. I loved to watch the Arabian Park horses. The Arabian Native costume and the Tennessee Walkers were the crowd pleasers. Those kind of shows, with so many different breeds and classes are the ones that are fun to watch.

Both the mare's parents are Appaloosas. No Impressive. Sugar Bars and Prince Plaudit (ApHA) breeding. They own the mare in the pictures, dam too.

my bad, it took a little bit of time....Had a wonderful week and rode everyday. Other than one fall Waylon was absolutely perfect. He trailered well and acclimated well to the new barn. I can't wait to go back. Too bad I have to work

It's in Ohio in a small burg called Amsterdam. It's 20 miles west of Stuebenville, about 45 minutes from Wheeling W.Va. We have 83 acres of trails and with the barn I am now going to go down as much as I can. My husband is retired and spends a lot of time down there.

Unless I win the lottery, I'll just have to be a weekend visitor until I can retire in 3 yrs.
