*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Dratted shipping companies. Sometimes all you can do is pay the shipping and hold your breath. Maybe they're out of stock or on back order. I remember once I ordered something from a magic shop and had paid for rush delivery, only to call the warehouse a week later and find that it was on back order.

Yeah. Never did that again. :-)

I thought I saw Juma tonight. Lance was at the barrel race and he had a horse there that was the same color. So I went and asked, but it wasn't Juma. Juma was at home, he goes to some "World" show tomorrow, then will be running in Memphis all weekend....Quit the world traveler:) I told them I knew you and was going to take a picture if it was Juma. He told me Juma was a smaller horse then the one there, but was the same color.

I can't remember the name of the boots I have, but they are not e-z boots, but they look like a tennis shoe:). I'll try to get a picture today, if I manage to get the energy to ride....I'm not use to such late nights:)

Good morning!

LOL...pray we have no rain here. Today's the day we move the furniture to storage!
It rained like crazy yesterday. Blessed relief! Even the chickens/guineas loved it. They all stood in it and acted like they were 'dust-bathing'. heheh

Are you moving or just storing stuff?

Yeah. I decided to just go buy them and drove about an hour to the nearest TSC. I was really disappointed in their stock. They only had one set of two that were too big. We bought mats and went to the back to pick them up and were told the stack had already been sold to someone else that was picking a few up every few days and to come back Thur. They finally agreed this was realistic and let us have 3 of them. I'm not going out of my way to go back there again.

This is a picture of the horse I thought might be Juma.

Is it close to the same color? This is a mare tho. I didn't think to check that:)

I forgot to mention, Lance won the jackpot, and last night was the last night of a series, so he won that too.

Yes, that horse looks just like him. Is that the horse Lance won the jackpot on? There is now a video of Juma barrel racing on Lance's website. www.lancegraves.com.

Juma is very dark brown in winter but he really bleaches out in summer to a lighter brown. He's also short, Lance's website says 15 hands but I bet he's just barely 15h.

We're supposed to be out by the first. (this landlord is a piece of work. Nasty reputation)
LOL.....
We're moving back to our land/shell of a house. It's going to be a glorified camping experience. Hubby figures that we'll be 'roughing it' for @ 2 weeks tops. (no power/running water/phone/internet{ACK})
He talked with the power company yesterday. They said all we have to do is set a pole and put in a breaker box and they'll come out to turn on the power. THAT is really bizarre, that they said that. We can't figure out HOW they knew that someone stole our breaker box after the fire.
Anyway, I spent a pretty penny buying TONS of camping stuff. LOL.
We have a line on some trailers that will be given to us. Only cost the $75. to haul up to the land.
And a few weeks after we're back in the 'civilized' world, we're going around all 10 acres with fencing, then moving the horses back home with us. YIPEEEE!
I even bought the kids 'floaties' so they can skim the surface of the pond. It's a mess with no one being there to stir the water. Fish are still alive in it, so it can't be too bad, eh?

That's funny, Lance must think I have spies all over the US.

My next door neighbor, the one who put me in touch with Lance, is trying to buy Juma for her daughter but Lance doesn't want to sell him until after November. Wouldn't that be cool to have him right next door? I wonder if he would remember Tuffy and Bud.

I didn't know you had a fire. Roughing it can be fun though, esp if you are roughing it on your own place.

I didn't get to see his run, I was warming up Harley. I told Jenny on the way home, I don't like not getting to see all the runs. I could watch barrel racers all day:). I saw him run this horse in an exhibition tho. I don't mean this in a critical way, because you can't argue with success:), but he turns his barrels differnt then any other barrel racer I have seen, and actually does alot of things we were told not to do at the clinic I went too. I was hoping I'd get to see him doing it at the faster speeds. I was interested if it was a training technique how he was doing it during exhibitions. Jenny said he did, just not as pronounced.

I told him I knew you but didn't mention it was just over the internet:)

He did look at me weird when I walked up with a camera and asked "is that horse Juma":).

But he was very nice, when I told him I was going to take a picture to show you he said he wished he had him there:). They start a new series there next week, that will run thru Oct. Maybe I'll see him before it's over.

I'm glad you didn't tell him you knew me over the internet, he needs to think I have spies.

That would be too cool if you could get a picture of him! I'm really relieved that I've been able to keep an eye out for Juma and I hope my next door neighbor is able to buy him. If he ends up in California or somewhere far away, I'm gonna be upset.
