This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
And this is them posed in the same spot I was in.... them, and one of the pack mules that has wandered in ;~D The buckskin horse there is the mother to most of his mules, but I don't think is mom to that colored mule there in the foreground ;~D
Art is a really tall guy... and he found mules were the only animals that could hold up carrying him all day, every day. He had two riding mules and he switched off, let one just follow along and rest of a day or two.
Who's dogs were those? I love the way they're sitting there with that look of pure doggie adoration on their faces, like there's no where on earth they'd rather be than right there with you.
Wow! That's the loudest colored mule I've ever seen! Really pretty!
Those are his dogs, I think they look that way at everyone ;~D
I wish I had pics that showed the whole menagerie.... there were several mules with us.
Art's wife liked a big hat didn't she?! It's almost bigger than she is! ;o)
Heh... [John Wayne voice] "That hat's wearin' you, missy" ;~D
LOL!
I'm outta here. Gonna stop and feed the hosses, then home after that. Talk to ya later...
LOL good pics Hair, sounds like you had a great time! Ecurbh wasn't the only one who thought mohawk! LOL Sorry!
Wow! I have just noticed the numbers.......2770!
Yes.. yes I'm swearing at you... but it's all in code! Mwhahahaha. :-)
(I should go wash my mouth out with soap)
I don't care. It's just too hot here sometimes for anything but shorts:')
Same here! I couldn't wear jeans. I would be broiled! LOL
You get use to them:).
Becky
I never did ride tonight. Jenny came to get Blake and we ate watched TV and then played marbles. They are still playing, but my thumb hurts:)
Becky
It rained pretty much all day.
Good for pasture, bad for inspiration to ride.
Well Jenny and I have our plans set to go to the jackpot tomorrow night. I think I'm going to run Harley down to Bixby arena to practice in the morning.
Becky
I was reading this and at first it sounded cool but then it seemed sad for the horses. I also don't think kids should be free to touch and poke. What if they try it elsewhere , with less tolerant horses?
