*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Thanks, I'm going to be lucky to get one rode today. It just doesn't cool off early enough to do more then one. I just don't know which is more important, Rusty who needs the exercise, or Harley whom I'm wanting to take tomorrow night to a jackpot, and "I" need the practice.

He went out with Mack and Charlie for awhile to work on a truck. But that's a good idea:).

Probably:), my son usually goes, and Mack might. They don't like taking pictures that much tho, you miss the run when you take pictures of it.

I just talked to Celia. We are going Thurs. morning to Arrowhead state park to ride. There will be 4 of us. Me, Celia, Sally and Mary. I think I posted some pictures last year of Arrowhead. It's only about 1 1/2 hours from here, nice place to go for a one day ride.

I Mowed about 7 acres on Sunday and was wearing a dress, I forgot it had a low scoop neckline at the back and I am red raw! Ouch! I have Irish skin that refuses to tan!
The humidity was 100% and it was 96 degrees. Still that is one job out of the way for a week. : )

I have found I can stand the heat alot better if I start early in the morning when it is still cool, and stay out of the AC til I'm done with whatever. I don't notice the heat so much. Once I go into the AC to cool down I'm done. There is no way I can start an outdoor chore this time of year tho in the afternoon after being in all day.

When we were in TX. the temps and humidity were horrible, but since we started so early in the morning, we made it all day. Don't get me wrong we were always looking for shade tho:)

Very good! I look forward to your ride pics and report!

I wonder if we'll ever venture an hour and a half from home... maybe, when we eventually exhaust and know all the capital forest trails by heart, but that's a long time from now. There's lots of other places to go, but for the moment, and with our current understanding with my dad about the truck, we're staying local. Someday, I'd like to go ride through Mt. St. Helens monument and up in the Olympic Mountains.

LOL..about your burned neckline. This morning when I was getting ready to go on my bike ride with Blake I thought about finding my one pair of shorts, took one look at my legs and decided Nahh:). I am so odd colored. My face neck and arms are very dark, the rest, snow white. I probably looked pretty strange out there riding a bike in jeans, but not as odd if I had had shorts on.

Oh, I bet once you get the truck situation settled you'll be all over the country:)

It's been so long since I've had a truck and trailer I felt safe taking far that I'm really excited. I've got a new truck, and new tires and light plug on the trailer,,,I'm good to go anywhere.
Actually, 4 hours is about as much as I'm comfortable with going by myself, I've done 6, but I don't like it.

She likes algebra now probably because she only has something like 9=3x+3, and has to solve for x. :-p Just wait until she has to solve for more than one variable. Then she's going to either hate or love its very existance. Though it can be fun, I must admit. If she has no problem with algebra, she'll have no problem with calculus. :-D Just you wait, Rose!

That would be very cool if you could! Do they allow horses up there?

Lots of horse trails through Mt. St. Helens Monument...

Understand, though, that the monument is a large area, it doesn't mean we can ride right into the crater ;~D

LOTS of elk there, and lots of high ridges with views though.

That's my problem. I work in the A/C all the time and have gotten to be a wimp about the heat and humidity. I firmly believe that if it weren't for air conditioning, the South would still be a wilderness! ;o)

LOL!! Farmer Tan! Sounds like me. My legs could blind an Eskimo at 20 paces so I don't wear shorts either.
