I agree with all of your post.
Uh, Ok, we get your point Texasflower.
LOUD and CLEAR.
With all due respect. She is not paid to be on these shows for her "charm". She is famous for her mouth.
I happen to like her, and I'm glad she's on our side.
Cheers
Snot
In my experience, many guys greatly admire and respect her, but are (unwillingy admitted) terrified of her and would not want to date her...too much to handle is the usual phrase!
Good manners require that if you are going to talk about a person in a post you should ping them as well.
I don't care what you think of me. Never have and never will.
BTW...I read your aboutpage...sorry about your dad. I can relate, my dad had as paralyzing stroke as well, and we cared for him at home for about six months. It was an awful and wonderful experience. He is buried in Arlington, where he always wanted to go...:)
Agreed...we depend on Condoleeza for our conservative charm!
Mr Ferguson may claim to not have an English accent but he certainly has a British accent since Scotland is part of Britain. It is part of Great Britain and so the Scots speak with one of the many British accents just as a New Yorker or a man from Georgia speak with different variants of American accents.
Maybe you misunderstood the conversation. Maybe he actually said he did not have an English accent. That would make sense.
Thank you for your kind words about my Dad. I'm sure your Dad was wonderful as well. The way you put that, "an awful and wonderful experience" is absolutely right. I would never have thought to put it that way.
I'll be going to visit Arlington again soon. It's such a lovely and awe inspiring place. You must be so proud to have your father in such a place of honor.
Let me try to explain it to you this way.
I'm from Texas. Someone from Minnesota is going to sound differently from me.
We don't say we have an American accent. We use our regional accents.
I have a Texas accent.
I didn't misunderstand Ferguson, nor did I misunderstand my daughter's friend.
Maybe you didn't understand my American accent?
I have a 38D chest size. Do I make more sense now?
Ann is a very bright woman. She would still be bright AND reach more people if she just toned things down some.
He's Scottish dear. Not British.
That's wrong. Scotland is a British country. Ferguson is Scottish and therefore he is also British.
His accent is Scottish. What is your problem? What are you really after?
If the man specifically says his accent is Scottish, then who are you to call him a liar?
I understand that Scotland is a country under Britain.
But his regional accent is Scottish.
Are you not able to hear the difference between the accents of say Tony Blair and that of Craig Ferguson?
They are VERY, VERY different.
If you called my accent American it would not tell the whole story.
Same here.
Are you just in the mood for a fight? Because I will be happy to argue with you if you can come up with an actual topic.
He's Scottish dear. Not British.
And that's not right. So what I'm doing is rubbing your nose in your mistake. I know that's mean, but you have it coming.
Why don't you discuss whether or not Scotland is a separate country with freeper cooper72.
He will be happy to tell you that Scotland is a separate nation.
Oh and right now, Craig Ferguson is taking to an Irishman.
You can learn more about accents.
I have nothing "coming" as you say.
Scotland is a separate country but it is a part of Great Britain.
I get that. Great Britain is a union.
What the hell is your problem?
Do you have an actual topic to argue yet?
I had an opportunity to meet and talk with her personally at a pizza party held after the first FR March For Justice at the Octagon. It was a pretty relaxed setting and Ann was as nice as she could be. As much a I love her witty, biting comments when she is opposing liberals where she is usually outnumbered, she is not the same way in person when she is with her conservative friends. Amazingly, she reminded me of many of the Catholic girls I went to school with, honest, unassuming, fun and surprisingly humble.
I think with as many public appearances as Ann has made, she still gets nervous. Shows like the one she was on tonight (though admittedly I didn't see it but after this thread sure would like to), have to be somewhat difficult for her because most of the people in the audience and probably the host as well are not the political junkies that she is accustomed to, right or left. It has to be tough for her to play to an audience that is largely apolitical. If she gets on more of these kinds of programs, she will get better.
I suppose there are people in Texas who would like Texas to be a separate country, but it isn't. And likewise, Scotland is a British country irregardless of what our fellow freeper says.
It's kind of like if you had said:
He's a Texan, dear, not an American.
See what I mean?
Uh huh. YOU tell the Scottish freeper that okay?
He has been very vocal about anyone who gets it wrong.
Take a look at the Charles and Diana thread for an example.
He would be ripping your head off over this.
Scotland is part of the union of nation states, which are Scotland, England and Wales. The United Kingdom is made up of Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Scotland is a separate nation under this union of nation states. It is not the same as Texas which is just a state.
Once again, what is your real issue here?
Is this supposed to be punishment for bad mouthing your Annie?
So are you more of an expert on the United Kingdom and Great Britain than an actual British subject?
She's beautiful, but she's looking even thinner and needs to gain a little weight.
