Word For The Day, Tuesday, 5/17/05
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
turbid; adj
turbid·ly adv. turbid·ness or tur·bidi·ty n.
1.Having sediment or foreign particles stirred up or suspended; muddy: turbid water.
2. Heavy, dark, or dense, as smoke or fog.
3. In a state of turmoil; muddled
Entymology: [Latin turbidus, disordered, from turba, turmoil, probably from Greek turb.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....
That about sums it up.
It seems we inadvertently contributed to the problem.........I heard this wild popping sound as the last piece of equipment came through and went to see what the noise was. The blade of the mower caught what looked like a big piece of heavy plastic and shredded it all over the place.
I went out to clean up the mess and OOPS found it to be the wrapper from the insulation hubby installed in the attic. He must have missed one of the bags wehn he went to the dump and it blew into the ditch.
That bothers me, because I am such a fanatic about people who toss stuff out car windows. I actually once stopped the car and made a passenger go back and pickup the cigarette he had tossed out the window. There is a reason for ashtrays.........
That photograph is amazingly..... symmetric.
Hmmmmmn.
Some trashy women change into tight clothes and pick up all the loose dirty men find, whom they then clean out of all the change they can sweep up out of their pockets. They're called streetwalkers.
Ti, on the other hand, walks outside with strange men and cleans up all the streets she can find of loose change she finds in dirty pockets filled tightly with trash.
You're strange - there is no other word to describe you.
another gold star today, jack! A++++ did you go back to receive all your accolades from yesterday's masterpiece?
I sure did, xsmommy:
Thanks all for all the props and kind words!
Yes, it's "from my lips to God's ear", January 24th.
The dems are going to lose anyway you look at it. Even if the Media's going to bend over backwards to make it appear that they've won something.
President Bush will get Bolton in the U.N. and maybe not all, but most of his Judicial nominees. Since what the Left considers "mainstream", most see as abhorrant or down right goofy.
Jack.
Turgid was my word a couple of weeks ago, Patton. LOL!
I'm supposed to wear these hand braces when I type, but you can't type with them on. Catch 22. Still waiting to hear from the neck surgeon at Cedar's. Everything takes so long, unless you're having a heart attack.
I need a replacement for a couple of months. That's the gist of this post. I still want to be subbie when I can type again, but I really and truly can't do it now. The pain afterwards is just too bizarre. I can't take pain pills which makes it even worse.
I do care for all of you and WFTD. But I have to heal myself.
i nominate arghy to be your sub for subbie!~
Take care of yourself and get well soon Slip
Arghie doesn't get to work until 11 AM Eastern time. And the insomnia can't be relied on, and sometimes I'm in a rush to get the bus in the morning.
well that is a sorry lot of excuses, isn't it? ; )
One day a week is all I can handle as subbie/janitor who unlocks the door. Perhaps one of the other croqs could help out.
i can't do all 4 days. i can do my two and occasionally help someone else out, but i can't commit to 4.
Who else used to sub on occasion and might be willing to become a regular fill-in?
SG subbed a bit, but i don't know if she could fit us in amongst her myriad OTHER JOBS... ; )
Hey, it was early. LOL.
