Good morning Val, everyone.

Good to see you back, Val. Great pics that you've posted. What great country, and the kids look good too. ;)

How you doing Westy? That's a nice photo, and looks like our yard still, with all those leaves..lol.

As many as you get in the fall, there are still trees shedding after we leave/leaf. Pun intended.;)

Morning all

I had a wonderful day with my daughter and grandkids yesterday. She invited me to church and lunch with them.

I must tell you of my experience. She and the kids attend this Methodist church with over a thousand members. The church buildings are new, modern and huge. The grandkids went individually to an area that is as large as a small elementary school. The sanctuary is a mammoth one built in the round stadium style with many levels of seats and two big screens. I felt like the hot dog vendor would be around soon. I kept looking for an altar and finally spotted one in a corner. The service began with six musicians and four singers doing a rock number. I should have known when I looked for a hymnal and there were none. Then the pastor goes to his pulpit wearing a casual shirt, pants and mocs to deliver the sermon, which was called a message. The Lord was mentioned infrequently.

When my daughter asked me how I liked the service...I just kept singing "give me that old time religion, its good enough for me". LOL

My favorite memories of organized religion are the services at a small rural church that my grandfather helped found back in the thirties. For baptisms, they would use the stock tank in the adjoining field.

Yes, I know what you mean. I was raised in the Catholic church and well remember their 'guitar masses' in the sixties. And I have attended many services of different religions including black, pentacostal, baptist etc. But, I have never seen anything like this service. LOL
