Well, yes and no. I went in and worked for a few hours here, then headed to Little Rock at noon. When I got through with my client down there, I hung around....a little TOO long; got my hair done and went shopping. I JUST got home. It's 1:15 AM and I'm just now having supper. Morning is going to be here WAY too early.
I agree completely, Libby. Sometimes having fun is sooo tiring, lol
I get my puter back today, and I can't wait to feel shark and snake skin under my fingers again....;)
There's a way to make a digital cam do that, but I haven't a clue how to do it.
Good grief!
(Insurance?)
(Eco-terriers?)
I'm too suspicious by half.
My guess would be lightning. It was wild in the wee hours here.
Lightning's what I'm now hearing...
Must have been a direct strike.
I saw this on another site I thought you may be interested.
Have you guys seen what the credit card companies are doing, it is unreal.
First let me say I have not worked since 1995 due to back problems from a surgery I had. I filed for social security disability and it was denied, I got an attorney and he appealed it all the way to the top. It took about 2 to 3 years for all the appeals, each one took 6 months or more. I lost all my appeals, but the appeal board does not review your case, they only check to see if the first ruling had any mistakes in it. If the first person who ruled against you did not make any legal mistakes they just agree with that first persons decision.
So now I live with my retired 82 year old father who supports us both, he lives on a small pension and social security. Today I got a pre-approved credit card offer in the mail. I have no job, have not worked in 10 years, no income, no car, no bank account, etc. Yet they have pre-approved me for a Visa credit card.
Here is the good stuff, lol. They offered me a credit limit of $300, yes I said $300 fricking dollars. The company is called Aspire Visa, you mail the application to a credit card processing center in Cambridge Ma. They have a web site too, www.AspireYes.com .
The annual fee for the card is $150, the account opening fee is $29, and the monthly maintenance fee is $6.50 a month payable by the year at $78 a year. They add the $78 dollar yearly fee to your card after you make your first purchase.
That adds up to a grand total of - $257
But that's not all, You have to send them a payment of $20 before you can even activate your card. That is $277 for a $300 credit limit. And the interest rate is 19.75%, but cash advance interest rates are 25.75%.
Just for fun I called their 800 number, you guessed it, I got someone at a call center in India. She said do you want to apply for the credit card, her accent was so strong I could barely understand her. I said no I just wanted to tell you I would never apply for this scam of a card if my life depended on it. Then I told her I would never do business with any company who outsources their jobs to foreign countries, then I hung up on her.
What is stunning to me is that this is all legal, hell most of our congressman probably took money from these people. I am going to put this stuff in an envelope and mail it to Senator Durbin and ask him what he thinks about them sending this crap to disabled, unemployed people with no job and no income, and who have not worked in 10 years from a disability.
Credit and mortgage lenders are on a roll to beat the band: we've begun to send company "A's" crap back to Company "B" and so on, using their postage paid envelopes in the hope that THE COMPUTER will someday notice that the lodwick's are not players in this entanglement game.
As you may remember, Mrs.L works for the Disability Determination operation here, and I will tell you that if this person went all the way to the Administrative Law Judge hearing with their claim, and was once again denied, they might not be all that disabled, from what I've learned about the system. (The sad thing is that they engaged a barrister when they could have done it just as well on their own, without the prospect of having to share at least 30% of any back payments with said same shyster.)
It is now time to construct a massive Gin&Tonic.
Cheers over there, and to whomever may wander through the DD.
My brother has finally been accepted for disability payments. He has MS to a bad degree. It has been a long two years for him but he said that a lawyer was provided for him by disability determination. Did I misunderstand him?
I'm not eligible for disability even though my husband ran off to chase hot babes on the internet leaving me with multiple health problems.
Life sucks these days, Loddy.
Gosh, Val. What a shame. I've been there several times, most recently last summer, and enjoyed both the food and the view. Has the cause of the fire been determined?
Oops. Should have read a bit more.
I've never had a gin and tonic ... let me know how it works.
...he said that a lawyer was provided for him by disability determination.

This is a federal program that is administrated by each of the several states...Texas does NOT provide shysters - your budda's may: I just don't know.
All that I know is the program is set up so that folks can do it all for themselves, assuming that they have mental capabilites to do so.
Thanks to the information that I've learned from Mrs.L, I've been able to help several of our tenants get their claims approved.
Unlike the VA disability program, the SS program is all or nothing...instead of a percentage program where one is graded on the degree of their disability.
Our gov in action.
Nice photo.
... let me know how it works.

It's a summer type drink that works very well here.
Come join us for one or two.
Cheers up CP way. ;-)
