"This incident and the constant danger of abundant dog poop on every sidewalk and street (not to mention the cheese so pungent that it had to be tightly wrapped and sealed and stored outdoors in the woodpile overnight lest the odor permanently scar the refrigerator) still make my stomach queasy." Sounds "lovely." Sounds like a good place to diet.

"1918? Influenza." I don't remember the year (Mid-1800's, I think) but back in the 80's I went with some friends to the graveyard by the church on St. Simon's Island in Georgia. Walking through and reading the gravestones was heartbreaking. There had been a typhoid epidemic that woped out entire families in short time spans. Much of the area must have succombed. It really got to me. I left in tears and had to wait in the car for the others. Perhaps life was more precious then because folks lived with the daily awareness that every moment was by the grace of God, and every breath could be their last. We have come to take so much for granted that many of us fail to value what we have.

"but like all mental disease, liberalism is hard to get rid of." More like a parasitic disease eating away at the heart of civil and decent society.

" I sense impending disaster. Speaking of which " Granted, she has her moments, but isn't calling Gran an impending disaster a bit over the edge? Darks and Sharkey, on the other hand....

... isn't calling Gran an impending disaster a bit over the edge? You are absolutely correct and I apologize for my carelessness.
I shall remove the adjective that makes the sentence inappropriate when describing Gran: " I sense impending disaster." Now. That's much better.

"I shall remove the adjective that makes the sentence inappropriate when describing Gran: " I sense impending disaster." Now. That's much better." You'd best be careful, Pup; next thing you know she'll feature you in one of her twisted images, wearing pink boxers and dangling from the jaws of a goofy-looking shark.
Another rough day on beach bunny patrol coming up?

Another rough day on beach bunny patrol coming up?Yes indeed. Nightmare conditions with a low temperature of 71 and a high of 83. My temperature will be considerably higher ...

"Nightmare conditions with a low temperature of 71 and a high of 83." I just don't know how you do it. If you keep up at this pace, Nully may be forced to increase your benefits.

Nully may be forced to increase your benefitsExcellent plan! I have already begun to work on legislation whereby Blue Staters (nully) must support their less fortunate Red State brethren (yours truly) with "bonus" payments over and above Social Security. I'm still working on the numbers but I figure that nully will be forced be asked to surrender donate approximately 25% of his after tax income to me. It's only fair.
To: catpuppy
Well, I'm off to deal with dysfunctionality in the Ozarks. Try to keep cool out there. If you work it just right, you might be able to get some of the beach bunnies your subjects to feel sorry for you and give you the occasional restorative massage, complete with sunscreen... just don't let Mrs. CP find out.
