Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now
| Me
Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz
Well, they went and did it.
The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?
This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.
Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.
This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.
The Republican Party is the France of politics.

Nope. I could only participate in a fully pro-life party.
I left the GOP because I thought the leadership was totally ignoring the party's pro-life platform.

Well then, let's shake and make up.

Didn't expect that, dijya.
When I get irritable, I get pretty combative. Usually I'll dip over to another forum and just wail the living hell out of every person I see. :o)
I have more of a problem with dummies and self indulgence
Oh dear. I'm a little of both. :o)

I agree. Nonetheless, at least *everything* wasn't lost in that fight. The pro-life based is motivated now, make no mistake.

Many are, but perhaps not all. :) Actually, the best lawyers are not jerks in my experience. Slip the knife in with love, is my motto. Often, the opposition is not even aware that they are being castrated.I think I'm gonna follow your posts in the forum a little closer. I think I could learn a thing or two from ya.

It's tickin' me off to Laz.
When we were in the minority in Congress we were steamrolled on a daily bases. It was standard operating procedure for dems to make sure Republicans had no voice in anything. We were a big joke to them and their power.
Now that we control Congress, they want to play nice and make shady backroom deals with our liberal enemies. This is NOT why we voted them in. We voted them in to destroy this socialist cabal that is operating right under our noses.
It's time for them to fight for America's future, and there's no time to lose. If they don't have the stomach for the fight then they can also be voted out, we need to convince them that we are watching their every move and we expect results.
Don't give up just yet.

I knew you were a force to be reckoned with, Laz, but I didn't realize just how powerful you are! Since you posted this opus, Frist and the President have both come out to reject Dingy Harry's 'compromise'. WTG, Laz!

Ah, well. I'm all for a pro-life party, but I won't be up for imposing it on the states via the federal government, just as I wasn't for Roe doing it the other way `round. I think at some point you have to fight for your principles in front of the electorate.

I haven't even posted on this thread until now, I just pinged you on another thread(spelled your name wrong, sorry about that) about how Frist said "no deals".
Anyway I don't mean to be smarmy, but I think you learned a lesson, not to jump to conclusions, especially based on mainstream media reports.

I'm just a mouthy jerk on an internet forum. Let's give the credit where it's due: The millions of Murricans who faxed and emailed and called.
Okay, I get a share of that. I'm one of them. So I hereby claim one several-millionth of a share of credit. :o)

Anyway I don't mean to be smarmy, but I think you learned a lesson, not to jump to conclusions, especially based on mainstream media reports.Given the chance, I'd do it all again. I think this was an unusually productive thread, allowing people the chance to vent, giving the many Freepers some ammunition to point to and inform Republican leaders of the unrest of the base, and heck, I even reconciled with a couple of Freepers.
All in all, well worth the time.
