Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now | Me

Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Well, they went and did it.

The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?

This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.

This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

I will tell you, it is no secret at all, my country of origin is Lebanon.

Are you a Muslim? I'm aware many Lebonese are not.

I could go on, but frankly, I'm tired of this conversation. Everyone here knows where I stand.

*I* didn't. :o)

"They're all guilty, and I for one am not going to just forget about it and move on. The memory of her mother and father coming out of that hospice weeping will never leave me. Neither will the memory of the armed thugs guarding a judicial murder in America."

And millions of future "helpless Americans" will benefit, long term, from you and fellow voters hardening our pro-life stance.

"Skyrocketing spending."

The spending and the social programs and the campaign finance reform are legitimate complaints.

Expecting perfection, however, is an unreasonable standard. You'd be hard-pressed to show an American Administration that, by line item names, somehow gave you more conservative victories, however, than the Bush Administration.

I joined the Republican Party ages ago, but never get invited to anything.

Back when I was quite a vocal and strong activist in the New York Republican party, there wasn't a function I *wasn't* invited too. Here in GA I'm an absolute unknown. I like it that way.

I know how you feel. I joined Sam's Club and it doesn't seem much like a club to me.

Thanks for conceding that. You are an honest Joe, bud.

Now, this term, most Freepers voted on the "judge appointment" issue. I know I did, and also as a nod of gratitude towards letting the AW ban die.

So when it appeared this morning that the Repubs were going to cave on judges, well, my rage became palpable.

I have NEVER been happier to have been proven wrong. However, I'm still not a happy sailor -- yet. Let's let the judges emerge from committee first.

I hope you're right.

But I would rather have had a living Terri.

I am still registered as a pubbie, but I am known locally as the anti-pubbie because I rail against the wimps all the time. I've only been one though for about 5 years. Prior to that I was just an independent, but always conservative voter. I switched to help some conservative friends who needed help in the primary.

In many posts that involve the war on terror and the Middle East I stated that I was born and raised in Lebanon and I know exactly the immense importance of fighting the Islamic terrorist fundamentalist movement and the terrorist regimes in the Middle East, because as a Lebanese Christian I had seen their evil and horror in my own eyes during 15 years of war in Lebanon.

Today, April 26tth 2005, the Syrian terrorist regime completed its full pull out from Lebanon after 29 years of brutal occupation and oppression. The great credit is due to President Bush and his doctrine of spreading freedom and Democracy in the dark corners of the Middle East. If not for our brave troops who liberated Iraq from the terrorist regime of Saddam Hussein and made possible the Iraqi election, the Lebanese would not have revolted against their oppressors.

Thank you President Bush, thank you our brave troops, and thank you America.

God Bless America.

A short snippet of Lebanons history.........

RIYAQ, Lebanon The last of Syria's troops left Lebanon on Tuesday, ending a 29-year domination of this country's political and economic life with a farewell ceremony just a few kilometers from the border.

But as the last soldiers crossed into Syria, Lebanese politicians and analysts began facing challenges left by Syria's rule, including failed trust in the central government, fractious politics and a hobbled democracy that may take years to mend.

Officials and analysts also expressed fears that Syria, through proxies, will continue to exercise a degree of control and cause political divisions.

"Only now are we going to discover the damage the Syrians left behind," she said. "We basically missed 30 years of modernity and now we have to catch up."

With this history in YOUR country which I'm sure you are familiar with I absolutely CANNOT understand why you call those on these boards who want the illegal law breaking aliens to be stopped names.

Names like "racist" "your ilk" "border weenies" and DU'ers and even that they HATE President Bush which is not true.

WHY????

Americans should never abandon the individual in pursuit of the 'greater good'.

Generally, we don't. However, now that Terri is already abandoned, let's use it to pursue the greater good.

Gosh, this thread just got really good again. What a wonderful and productive political conversation we are having!

Okay, we hate eachother on every single other topic, but you get a tip of the hat for this post.

I have to credit a good sentiment when I see one.

Without Bush acting as their backbone the Senate Pubbies would have folded long ago. He is weilding a stick behind the scene. We'll know how big that stick is by what Specter does. If Specter gets in line, you know Bush was kicking him hard.
