Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now | Me

Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Well, they went and did it.

The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?

This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.

This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

Teetering on the brink, then. Fed up to here. Have had enough. No more surrender.

Amen to that. The last phone call that I received from a Republican volunteer asking for a donation to the party was treated to a rather brusque response, I'm afraid. Hell, we can't give 'em more power or authority. If they can't figure out how to use it, that's pretty damned pathetic.

Maybe we should all get together and start the "Conservative Party of America".

It's been done: www.constitutionparty.org

The Constitutions creep me out a little. Kinda John-Birchish conspirazoids, no?

I'm with you, Laz. I still vote Republican (lesser of two evils and all that), but I would NEVER give the GOP any of my $$ to waste.

My sentiments, exactly.

Bless you.

Around this we should rally. Poetry.

This is the position we have been in for the last ten years or more. It has gotten to the point holding my nose is not enough anymore to vote for some of these clowns. I need a stiff shot of bourbon before I walk in to the polling place. I am done past getting tired of voting for rinos whose so saving grace is they are not rats.

Premature rejectulation? ... Frist Says He's Not Interested In Deals

Cool!

Now, what about the borders? What about the growth of FedGov? What about dismantling Soc. Security? What about reducing the scope of Fed. Dept. of Education? etc. etc. etc.

Hey! Thanks for all those candidates you guys have elected to national positions.

Both of the real parties are just shaking in their boots because you've taken so many seats.

i wish you guys would make up your mind on that. During off years, the Libertarians and others are derided as a minority party of dopers, open border freaks, and anarchists (at least in the case of Libertarians). However, come an election cycle, the Bots seem to consider the Libertarians an extension of the Democratic party, the Waffen SS, the Antichrist, and the CFR...a serious threat to the Republican agenda to reform America (although when they get elected, the Pubs are indistinguishable from the Dims). Can't have it both ways hoss.

what have we gotten... more debt... more spending... more government... more wimps...

Sad but true. Compassionate conservatism means cut taxes (the conservative part) and increase Federal spending on anything and everything (the compassionate part, at least compassionate toward career Republicans trying to buy votes).

On the positive side, private accounts for Social Security and major tax reform are powerful, politically dangerous, principled positions, and the House has been pretty strong.

Maybe withold donations to the national party and Senate wimps, and just support individual Republicans with principles.

Update:

Reacting to a Democratic offer in the fight over filibusters, Republican leader Bill Frist said Tuesday he isn't interested in any deal that fails to ensure Senate confirmation for all of President Bush's judicial nominees.

That the Democrats even want to compromise means we must have the votes.

Also, IMO, they want this "compromise" now before Supreme Court nominations are made.

They will give up a few Circuit Court nominees, which they really didn't have a problem with in the first place, to get a deal on no future enacting of the "Nuclear Option" for Supreme Court nominees.
