Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now | Me

Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Well, they went and did it.

The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?

This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.

This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

Hmmmm shouldn't you post this opus (Say!!!How many does this make of yours anyway????) at the Republican Party website.

Can I?

BTW, I've never actually opused from FR. I think I've had one fake Anti-Opus, one "gonna take a breather" non-Opus, and this "Leaving the Republican Party" opus.

They say what it takes to get elected then go not follow thru. That is one of the reasons we are discusted with them.

I've been disgusted with my GOP reps for almost 20 years, and with the GOP itself forever. But I (mostly) vote Republican. I haven't given time or money to the Republican party, per se, in about 10 years. But I have given lots of money and hours to individual candidates and advocay groups that reflect my sense of "how things should be."

"The Republican Party is the France of Politics"

If Rush quotes you today you will become a god not The God but a god.

Will that take some of the sting out of missing being Pope?

You are going to leave the party over something that hasn't happened.

Teetering on the brink, then. Fed up to here. Have had enough. No more surrender.

:))... Maybe we are getting too emotional and tend to take this 'personally.' But how else, can this be taken? - I put a lot heart on the GOP for several years now with the purpose of seeing the this day - TODAY! - when we would be in the driving seat... but it these bastards, don't have the nerve to come true, then I would just be very, very dissapointed and angry... and who knows.

Let's hope not.

The Republican party wandered in the desert for forty long years. Instead of to God, they looked to the Democrats and the media for their manna.

When it became time to go into the promised land, Republicans shrieked in horror that there are giants in the land. When they finally bucked up their courage to go into the land, they placed compromise with the local indigenous people groups they found there above obedience to God.

As a result, belief that God gave the promised land to the Jews and ordered them to take it now disqualifies believers from sitting on the United States supreme court.

Lets all just sing Kumbai ya and hold ourselves until we feel better, let Laz leave and I hope the door resplits his fourth point of contact. Politics is give and take and when Frist rolls then I will squeal, all of this is poturing for a SCOTUS nominee, if the DEMS get over then we will have a problem. Lets see what happens.

Is there any rule that says a given politician can't belong to more than one party?

Yeah. Party rules and ballot laws.

It is funny though, that there are factions within a party. See for example the "Main Street" Republican branch of the GOP. That bunch includes Spectre, Snowe, etc.

I'm with you. 40 years of being in the minority has left the Republican Party enslaved to a defeated mindset. Too many of them have been fighting uphill so long, they don't even know when they're on top...so they fight their way down again and keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

If they can't get well-qualified judges past the Dem-o-dogs, then they're not ready for prime-time. Kick 'em to the curb.

I'm getting calls from conservatives all over the place saying they are changing their registration to 'independent' or 'no party'.

And these are knowledgable long time party activists who have had it.

The Schiavo case was the straw that broke the camel's back.

If the people we have worked so hard to elect won't even use their executive power to save the life of one poor American woman who is being killed by the death cultists and their judicial fellow travelers, they are of no use at all.

The right to life is the foundation of the foundation of our country's principles, and they stood there mouthing platitudes while that foundation was reduced to rubble.

That's why I left. They're useless.

That isn't to say that there aren't some good men and women in public office, primarily in the House of Representatives, but the GOP leadership is useless as teats on a boar hog.

The party is better off without people who try to destroy it from within by attacking any and every other Republican because they don't agree with you on every issue.

How about they do what they say, ONCE.
