Lazamataz's Opus: No longer a Republican (Vanity)
Now | Me

Posted on 04/26/2005 7:27:21 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Well, they went and did it.

The Republicans look like they will wimp out, not exercise the so-called Nuclear Option, and Harry Reid will PERMIT two judges to be approved and disapprove four others. Does anyone think for a second the Democrats won't "go nuclear" in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed?

This seals the deal for me. I am a Republican no more. It seems it does not matter if I vote Republican anyways, all I get is more liberalism. I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

Between Bushes enthusiastic embrace of illegal immigration, and our party's inability to get even moderately conservative judges approved, what's the freakin' point of voting Republican any more? What's the point of voting? I will get liberalism no matter how I vote. My main issue is guns, and it appears the Democrats have learned their lesson on that one, so it appears I will be safe on the firearms front. Everything else the Republicans stand for, they stand for in word only. They do not seem to want to act. Therefore, I do not seem to want to vote Republican any more.

This is my Opus -- not from Free Republic, but from the Republican party. Even when they have the majority, they surrender.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

You're so right about the spider silk's strength. I will deposit that old set of words elsewhere or apply it to something else.

The Conservative Party has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

SURE DOES!

I like that, too.

The Republican Party is the France of politics.

Republicans ALWAYS go for the jugular...unfortunately, it's their own.

I have been frustrated with the Republican party since they let Term Limits swing in the wind. But instead of choosing to wander the Libertarian Political Wilderness, I decided it's easier to gain influence from the inside rather than as the opposition.

That's not to say I have joined the Republicans, but I have been active raising money for them...which by the way, is how you gain influence.

Money, the mother's milk of politics. When you have them by the campaign wallet, their hearts and minds will follow.

Ignorance of history is such a piteous condition. Those who can't understand that history is a process rather than anevent or simple series of events are doomed to lives of misery.

If you hang around perhaps a screen name change from Lazamataz to something like Greygloom or maybe woeisme might be appropriate.

This reminds me --that just a couple weeks ago Rush Limbaugh went off on them too....calling everyone a bunch of wimps. He said he is going to move to Tahiti and the hell with it all...he's also sincerely disgusted.
Maybe we should all go to Tahiti.

No I don't have faith in anyone in DC, but I know if we give the liberal Democrats any ground then every conservative nominee will be hung out to dry. The message must be loud as it is strong, it is faith in our works and not the elected officials I seek to rally.

Democrats Ready to Compromise On Filibuster? 04/26 08:37 AM Harry Reid will offer a compromise plan to avoid a possible end to a filibuster on judicial nominees. His proposal would allow votes on two of three Michigan appeals court nominees and “potentially” one of four candidates “drawing the deepest opposition.” The GOP would have to agree to drop any rule changes that prevented filibusters. Reid said, "There is a way to avoid the nuclear shutdown, and I'm working with my colleagues to put that plan in place,” In addition, the New York Times says Democrats have abandoned any planned to end Senate business should an end to filibusters be approved. However, Bill Frist is not expected to accept Reid’s offer.

Lazamataz means He Who Is Depressed Without Wigwam Or Squaw in my native Shohonee.

I'm an American Indian, didn't I mention that?

But since 9/11 changed everything and if you don't support me you don't support the troops, well, I can get by with most anything.

I am a man without a political party. I am a conservative without a home.

And you are not alone, my friend. I'm a former GOP campaign worker and consistant GOP voter. For the same reasons you express, I've been looking closely at the Constitution Party. But the problem with them is their candidates' anlyses are so poorly presented and their rhetoric so weak, that they still come off looking like a half-baked fringe group of zealots and malcontents, not a serious political party. I'm not sure what I'll do.

Hey Laz,

Maybe we should all get together and start the "Conservative Party of America". We could keep notes on who really fights for our beliefs and who caves in to the libs. It could be like a ratings scale. Then when reelections roll around, conservatives will know who they are really voting for.

Or maybe the results will be too depressing.

I have been a Republican and a conservative before I even knew what it meant to be one, but lately I have to agree with you Laz. How do we elect people to the Senate that are such wusses? I mean they are really chickensh*t leaders. I will never vote for a Democrat in my life, but I will stop giving my meager funds to the Republican party if they cave on judges, Social Security, and immigration. I never wanted to believe the people that said the two parties were Republicrats and Democans, but it really looks like that more and more to me. The failure of the senate during Clinton's impeachment really pissed me off, but I kept supporting the party. If they fail now, they will lose my money and efforts.

"I held my nose and voted republican almost exclusively in 04 because I was afraid of electing a democrat. Frankly I don't see the point in doing it again."

This is my sentiment. Exactly.
