I probably have. When I was younger one of the 3 tv stations had movies on all Saturday. If it rained I would watch all day long. I love the old movies.
Did see that about Cary Grant, lysie.
Hi, Sweetie.
When I was at home yesterday I got the message you left for me there. Thank you very much. I deeply appreciate your friendship.
Just so you know I'm not "Little Miss Perfect", I had to throw a Hissy Fit at the meeting I attended earlier this afternoon.
It was a pretty important meeting. I had called the meeting and several people had to change their schedules around to attend, so I didn't feel right about postponing it to meet my convenience.
Unfortunately, I had asked those people to do certain things and to obtain certain information and bring it to the meeting. Most importantly, I had asked them to make some changes to a 'game plan'. They didn't follow my directions.
So I threw a fit. There were no ashtrays in the room, so I threw a pen instead and told them to go back and do what I told them to do the first time.
They will not try to run over me next time. There's always the chance that there will be something larger than a pencil available for me to throw.
Wasting money and time on meetings where absolutely nothing is accomplished really grates on my nerves. SOMETHING was accomplished at this meeting. We established that if I tell someone to do something, it danged well better happen or there'd better be a darned good excuse.
Good night. Off to watch a little TV. See you in the morning.
As I have explained to some of my management friends, passive aggression is aggression nonetheless....I think you did the right thing -- if they can take the heat let them get out of the kitchen now, not next November...;-)
Strange things are afoot, at the ATRW... (Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure reference!) ;^)
I'm going to close up shop for the evening. And I'm going to go eat something of my choosing. (probably Chicken Livers)
"Be *excellent* to each other!!!!" ;-))
Darn right. I don't blame you at all. Get it right the first time or have an ironclad excuse why it's not done right.....like someone kidnapped you. :-)
Now, I must rest my eyes. See you in the morning.
I worked outside almost all day today, because we are to have thunderstorms this evening. I transplanted a bunch of phlox that were in too much shade since the trees have grown, planted some lily bulbs, planted some perennial seedlings from the greenhouse, and weeded and hoed 4 beds. THEN I had to go up to The Coopster's and meet the two older grandkids when they got off the bus, supervise their homework, get the older grandson ready to go to the Pacer's game with his dad (Reggie Miller's last season game). THEN my daughter came to take the evening shift (daughter-in-law had to work late) and I made her supper, made the two granddaughters supper, took out the trash, and left. THEN I had to go to the grocery for cat food and a few other things. THEN I came home and spread dry fertilizer on half of the perennial beds.
Whew! I am tired!
Whenever I think of Charles Laughton, I think of one of the early versions of Hunchback of Notre Dame...maybe you've seen that, ride, and would recognize him...well, sort of...he has so much makeup on and that crippled appearance...!
It sounds like a lot of people are sending their thoughts and phone experiences to Hewitt...
they are similar to mine:
I worked hard last year, and in 02, and in '00 to elect Rs, and the President, and the R Senators should get behind his nominations...
second, that while I expect Dems to be obstructionist and worse, for Rs to be that way is beyond the pale & unacceptable...
third, we might as well just let the Dems win the Senate, if the R "leadership" is going to be so weak.
Many, many voters and grassroots workers are sending these messages to the RNC, the various Senate offices via phone & email.
dont recall those Bit.. an oldie & very poinant movie was called The Bridge.
It was about a group of very young boys(10-14) who volunteered for the Nazi army.. the leader wanted them to feel important etc but didn'twant them in harms way. so he gave them a bridge with no anticipated traffic/action to secure/guard
Well, as plans often go, the brdige did have allie traffic etc. very sad movie & guess it was based on a true story.
Storm is starting here again & I am wondering if we will have power later.
An old Western saloon in the 19th Century. They order a beer and the bartender gives them each a draft: "Dude, he didn't even card us!" ;^)
I emailed him four times (four different email addys).. in one I told him it was unfortunate to the conservatives he was now in the league with other Ohio elected officials... Kucinich & Stepahie Tubbs-Jones.. others just encouraging him to get behind the president as we expect him to do..
is it raining/blowing there? two of my umbrellas are floating down the street. and the raccons are out & O wants to go chase them... fun evening ahead
Last year, a parent complained that the length of paper which some of the teachers used was too long!!! The director made a statement to us that this was silly and we shouldn't change just to suit one parent. But then she kept bringing it up over and over. I left the meeting when it was brought up the third time and subsequent meetings. My time is more important than to talk about length of paper.
Clear here for now! We had 2 major storms go thru between 5 & 6...In the second one, the shrubs along the back property line were almost bent over double, the wind was so fierce! I hope some of the rain soaked in, it was so dry, and didn't run off...
Time to shut down for the evening...& dream of Robert Taylor and a young Vivien Leigh standing on that bridge...
BTW, in the early 60s I saw her on Broadway in Tovarich. She was still beautiful, but her mental state was becoming more & more precarious, poor thing.
Dolly, if you really want to complain, you can now go to www.GOPSenators.com. They launched this website today and besides asking for contributions, they have a contact addy. Have at it!
One of my guilty pleasures, "Bloodsport" with Jean Claude van Damme is on Spike. It's just so 80s and full of Schwarteneggerian testosterone. ;^)
