The parents of Terri Schiavo/Schindler just made an impassioned appeal to Florida Governor Jeb Bush to save their dying daughter. Mrs. Schiavo was obviously tired and spoke in a restrained manner, but her husband, Robert, although looking terribly fatigued, used very strong language and placed much of the blame for his daughter's seven days of "torture" directly on Jeb Bush, blaming him for the inaction that is letting Terri be murdered by a "tyrannical" judiciary.
Mr.Schindler says that the Governor has the power to end their ordeal with a "stroke of the pen" and if he had courage he would do it.
FUND: Regardless of how this ends up, Congress has the right to dictate to the courts what their jurisdiction is. And thats what they went and did.
MATTHEWS: OK.
Lets talk possibly, John, about overkill here. The lawyers for the parents have said, if their daughter dies, there will be a damnation of her soul. This is overkill. If you come in and say that, somehow, Terri Schiavo, in the state shes been in for 15 years, will somehow suffer punishment by God because she dies this way, what do you think of that kind of a statement by the lawyers...
FUND: Chris.
MATTHEWS: No, I want your response.
FUND: Chris, one of the worst things thats happened is...
MATTHEWS: What is your response to that? To that?
FUND: Chris, one of the worst things thats happened in this...
MATTHEWS: No, I need that.
Let me go to Jim.
Jim, I want a response to this. Its an incredible statement.
WARREN: Yes.
MATTHEWS: These are Roman Catholics saying that their daughter will be punished in hell because of the way this case is coming down. I have never heard theology like that. I have no idea where it is coming from. But it smacks me as overkill. And I dont think it is going to help the parents case.
Schindler has to sign those pleadings.
I don't who said what when, but it seems as though your initial characterization is not exactly accurate.
Fully aided and encouraged by Sean Hannity, publicity seeker and exploiter extrodinaire.
I'll have to return to the reservation and do penance. ;-0
I feel for them, but they can't lay this all at Jeb's doorstep. I think that it is just anger coming out of desperation.
OK, fine, but my assertion still is backed up.
However, all I'm saying is that it's a far cry from saying Schindler said those things himself during a press conference.
BigSky was mistaken; I pointed that out.
Yep, that's a Hardball transcript alright.
In the transcript hole_n_one linked to, Matthews said he has experience in the Catholic church because he is one, and the Vatican wouldn't reach a conclusion some are suggesting. I'm not even Catholic, and I find the assertion that it's the Vatican's view Terri be damned to purgatory or Hell or whatever, to be quite a reach.
If you know more about Jeb's job than Jeb does, let's hear it! He said he won't break the law, but I have a suspicion that's exactly what you want him to do!"
Shame on you, wanting to follow WRONG laws that kill people. You would have followed the law and kept slaves and kept women not voting.
The US Constitution say we have life as a natural right, but that government is to help protect it, not murder it.
You need to repent of your thinking that is murderous. Jesus said if you even think it, you are guilty before God. He died on account of your sins 2000 years ago, wanting to offer you forgiveness, or else you will never be with God. You need to acknowledge your evilness, turn to Him, and let Him change you so that you can think and act correctly instead of foolishly.
It sure seems like it. I am guessing that they took the wrong angles at this case. The whole religion argument was going nowhere. That is weak at best.
Actually, that would be the Declaration of Independence.
They may however be worried about her going to purgatory for what is happening to her
And not to be nit picky .. but this is an example of why I can't stand Chris ... he didn't even let John Fund respond
Actually it's in the Bible.
What you asserted was said is (more or less) backed up. I say more or less because you said Schindler said that "he hopes she ends up in Hell".
I see nothing thus far that would suggest such a ugly wish.
As far as the rest of your claims, you failed miserably is the WHO and the WHERE.
