While reading the latest updates on the case, I remembered that there are still these congressional hearings to be done next week.
If Terri was still alive Monday, could she be taken out of Judge Greer's jurisdiction by federal authorities to comply with the congressional order to testify? Maybe some of the more astute legal minds here could take this question on
You don't think it's cynical to subpoena a woman for a hearing knowing full well that it is impossible for her to testify?
It's not only cynical, it's cruel.
My take is the subpoenas should never been issued in the first place.
PLEASE
Do you have Jeb's number. I called every day but now I can't find his number.
Heard Dr. Hammesfar - neurologist - a few minutes ago saying either by tonight or tomorrow - she will have permanent brain damage due to lack of water.
House Committee Postpones Hearing on Terri Schiavo Subpoenas
March 23, 2005
A House committee has postponed hearings it had scheduled when it sent subpoenas to Terri Schiavo, her estranged husband, and administrators at the Florida hospice where Terri lives. The House Committee on Government Reform on Wednesday slated to hold the hearing on Friday, but made the decision Wednesday to cancel.
The hearing was scheduled to be held at Woodside Hospice, in Pinellas Park, Florida, and Congressional leaders hoped the subpoenas would be a way to afford Terri further legal protection while her parents pressed forward with their lawsuit to prevent her painful starvation death.
POINT 1: Judge Greer did NOT order the feeding tube removed, he ORDERED NUTRITION AND HYDRATION be stopped. There is a BIG difference.
POINT 2: When feeding tubes are removed from patients everyday, MOST of these are terminally ill patients in their last days. The feeding tube and food in the stomach often makes the patient feel worse. When the patient dies, the cause of death is the illness NOT dehydration.
AND WHO DOESN'T OFFER A SIP OF WATER TO SUCH A PATIENT TO RELIEVE HIS DRY MOUTH?
Terri was subpoena'd by the House to appear on March 25th. She was ASKED by the Senate to appear on March 28th. There was no subpoena for the 28th.
More cruel than killing her?
is that you Hildy?
"Healthy bodies are not starved to death "on a daily basis" in this country, not by legal means. What's so hard to understand the simple difference between terminal, end-of-life conditions and Terri Schiavo?"
It's hard to understand for some people, because some people have eyes but they refuse to see.
Sorry, as long as there was one doctor who said there was a chance of some recovery, I certainly would not want the tube taken out. And neither would you, were you being intellectually honest.
A lot of people do the same thing. It doesn't mean they are all killers.
no hysterics, just sick of people inventing things to make their version of this story seem right.
I'm not saying Michael is a good guy. I don't know him and I don't care to know him. Just saying that there are a bunch of baseless allegations floating around on this site.
I don't know what you'll accept as proof, but given that the courts can declare laws unconstitutional, it seems that Congress does not have the "ultimate" say.
I would suggest Article 3, Section 2 of the Constitution for your reading pleasure. Actually, the whole document is suggested reading for freepers.
"What if the judges decide your current quality of life is poor enough to warrent your demise"
I guess if so, you've gotta go.
And all the governor's horse's (asses) and all the governor's men (eunuchs) will not be able to keep body and soul as one.
Probate judges in Pinellas County, Florida don't have to recognize Congressional subpoenas.
Congress has no power in Pinellas County, King Greer rules there.
Seriously though, Congress hasn't pursued this. Had they, Judge Greer should be brought to D.C. in chains.
shhh. you're gonna confuse people with facts. it's always easier (and preferable) to blame a Clinton (any Clinton will do) for anything having to do with the fall of western civilization.
I would hope someone would see to my basic sustenance. I would hope someone would not inflict such horrendous, inhumane behavior on me such as starvation on the hearsay of a man who has such glaring conflicts of interest regarding my well-being.
There, that's what I hope. Now what's your point? Or are you just another of the zillions of trolls that have slunk over from DU this week to instruct us all on how compassionate it really is to starve Terri to death?
Thanks for your input.
This is from a columnist with the OC Register. I have not confirmed every appointees background personally.,, but there are enough to certainly raise question as to what a legacy can do to a country and an unconvicted citizen with a death sentence imposed without due process or representation, imo.
Good work GaltMeister. Thanks.
Most of the liberal left, for instance, Teddy Kennedy, are "brain dead", but that doesn't give anyone the right to kill them. :-)
