This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Good morning

I didn't quite understand these posts yesterday about the scoring of the endurance races, this morning it is making sense:)
I think that is really an interesting concept about not figuring times till they pass the PR. Do they have a person that stands and takes it from the time the horse comes in till they get it? I was just wondering because of the problems putting on the CTR's is getting enough workers.
But doing it the way you are saying could be a plus for someone with a really well conditioned horse. Can riders give their horses electrolytes during the ride?

Like a debit card huh? I think I'm gonna go back to taking cash out. A lot less complicated and faster.
It's a Colt, I believe. The .22 on the table is a Beretta.
I've got a Colt Gold Cup Trophy that looks like that except mine has black rubberized grips. The wooden grips on that one made me think Kimber.
BTW, good stance and grip.
Good morning... I had a whole series of very weird dreams last night. There were eggs in the fridge that didn't look right, so I opened them outside, and they had kittens inside, some alive still, a few dead.

flirt.
EEEEWWWWWWWW:)
I'm getting ready here to take my morning walk, then I have to go to the bank and the store, then I'll be back to ride Rusty.

In your State, I imagine that is a lot of red tape. I have had my CCW since last year. Still have not gotten a carry gun. I can't carry in work. Which is so funny, because it's a steel mill. Every truck driver coming in this place, you know has a gun.
I saved some of the kittens... they were purring. People would tell me it was the chicken farm's fault for letting them get fertilized, but they didn't seem to notice these were ~kittens~, not chicks.
Heh.... ~sip~
We don't have a course or a test to get CWP here... Not sure why we have such a liberal reputation ;~D
I have discussed the issue about CCW on other threads, and the places that restrict CC. You know, if you do carry in those places, whose going to know if you don't tell, and whose going to care if you are called upon to use it??Also the most restricted places can do is ask you to leave, you wouldn't be breaking any laws if you were carrying legally.
I have a CC gun, but not the permit yet:), that's on my agenda for this summer, after my competitions are over.

We have a test, but I think it's pretty basic. One of the gun ranges here has a 1 day lesson you can take before you take the test. I think that is the route I'm going to take.

Heh:) There must have been something in the air this weekend. I dreamed alot to, can't remember now what they were about, but I woke up several times thinking..what the heck was that about:). I don't like to dream, even when they aren't nightmares. Very disorienting.

I've had that attitude when I worked in places with a stated policy against bringing them to work. There were some occasions, like working late, that I wanted to have it with me from the building to the car.
I will say this, though, that having it at work was more hassle than benefit with it in my purse, and I had constant worry over it if I had to leave my desk, even if I could lock my desk. One of the big rules in CCC is to not leave it unattended. Complete discretion is also vital. No one can know.
As for other restricted areas... I have risked it in bars, but not as a general rule. Breaking company policy is one thing, a criminal gun violation another. I have only risked it in a few circumstances where I didn't like the walk from parking to the bar and back, like in Seattle. You are right that your odds of getting caught in the bar, if you are discreet, are nil.
What's insane about it, and I don't know if this is true in other states, is that the process to get a LTC or CCW licence differs town to town. Some are far more rigourous then others. I was looking at one town, and you needed two letters of recommendation... (?)
That's it, I'm moving to washington :-)
