*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

has CS named the filly yet? She sounds lovely, I can't wait for photos.
We have got rain and more rain here today, lots of sun yesterday and lots of rain today. Kids want to be outside but they would need either a boat or a fishing rod! Tommy and Jacob would get plastered from head to toe in mud, and although I let them sometimes, today is not it!
My camera, Kodak DC3400 takes ordinary AA batteries! It is one of the things I love about it! It's not the smallest, its taken 6 years of hard knocks but it still works very well. : )

Little foal's manes and tails are so cute and curly, but sadly they don't stay that way, but the color may stay, kinda like this horse:

Hey, that's the same camera I have. They ARE good cameras. Mine goes in my pommel bag with a ton of other stuff every time I go riding and has held up pretty well. It takes good pictures too for a 3mp camera.

Oh I'm hoping so - my son says she'll foal tonight. Bob has decided she doesn't intend to foal, just to make his life miserable.

mine got dropped by my nephew onto concrete a year ago, it still works fine but is damaged at the port where you plug in. Now that I have a card reader, it doesn't matter anyway. It seems to take great pics no matter how quickly you take them or what you light you have. I have used it for work as well as play. Lasted 6 years so far and I'm happy!

LOL that's how we felt about Sugar, in fact, I was posting on here that I thought she was acting like she was "ready" and deaconjim came on (from work) and said she could go another couple of weeks......The next thing I know I hear her outside and she was rearing up! guess she had decided she had had enough! LOL
I hope it is soon for your sakes, I remember how good that nights sleep after Sugar had foaled was! It felt like I hadent slept for months.......!

Yes, she's waxed up. Bob says tonight or tomorrow. I'm watching her in the camera and very, very uncomfortable.

Same thing happened to a supervisor I had at the phone company many, many years ago. A horrible, tragic accident.

Dusty foaled tonight at 8:45pm. Had a filly :) The baby was born with one leg bent back and wasn't breathing. Bob had to pull the baby and tear the bag and slap her to get her breathing. While pulling her, he slipped on the placenta that he'd torn and fell, twisting his knee. He couldn't stand or walk, so I got to play nurse to him and the baby. She's not nursed yet but is up and running around. She's a odd color, at first thought she was bay but legs are not black. Then as she dried, she is light around her eyes, on her muzzle, under her legs. There is no greying gene present so don't know what's going on. Anyway, everyone, meet TE Dusty Jax -

Congratulations!! What a pretty baby and great news to get up to this morning!

How's Bob doing? I hope his knee is doing better today but I bet he's gonna be some kind of sore.

JUst got on here this morning and saw the wonderful news, congratulations to Duchess, Bob, Mare and foal. Sorry to hear about the struggle but I am glad everytign turned out ok. How is Bob?
