40th birthday plunges Keanu into depression

15/03/2005 - 07:22:43

Hollywood hunk Keanu Reeves found turning 40 so tough last year, he plummeted into a dark period of depression.

The Matrix star says the months since his birthday last September have been a time of reflection, which quickly escalated into morbid brooding about how many years he has left before he dies.

The Canadian actor says: "It was a nightmare. It reminded me of adolescence and it felt like an internal transformation with physical aspect, like when your hormones run wild.

"But this time with a conscious shift, an awareness of your own mortality."

Wait til he turns 50...that one did it for me...

Yeah, I'm still trying to deal with that. I'm too cool to be 51!

They keep describing that poor woman who was injured in Atlanta as a '51 year old grandmother.' It makes her sound like she should be in a rocking chair. Maybe it's a baby boom thing - I don't mind being my age, it just freaks me out when I hear other people say it.

It's a peach of cake, Mr. Reeves! (quoting Rugrats)

I can understand the retrospection, but do that through your entire life, assess where you're going and where you want to be every once in awhile.

Age is just a number!

The meaning of the name Keanu is:

Cool Mountain Breeze

The origin is:

Hawaiian

Keanu was named by his father after Keanu's great-grand uncle, Henry Keanu Reeves. It is possible that he was also named after another great-grand uncle, Charles Keaweaheulu Reeves.

K.C. Reeves is the name he went by after arriving in Hollywood when his then agent tried to "de-ethnicize" his name which Keanu did not like at all.

Yeah, I'm 51, too. So how come I still think I'm 18 even though I look 25?

What'll he do at 50? Hollywoodies have nothing important to worry about.

Jack Benney never had that problem.

He was always 39.

Is 40 his age or his IQ?

You guys, 50 is nothing! It's all in your attitude.

I still feel like I'm 18(and then I look in the mirror...)

During some interview I happened to catch, he said hes not currently a buddhist.

i heard he practiced for a while in hopes it would ward off his crummy personal tradgedies.

Keanu is almost as weird as William Hurt.

Almost.
