Firt off, I have to pause and thank you for starting this thread and keeping it going. It's one of the most entertaining and enjoyable threads ever on FR, in my opinion

You're very kind. I'm honored--and humbled--that you would even say that. Thank you.

By now you've probably heard about Bo's past drug busts. I don't know how AI will react to this, but if he was honest about it with the producers, then they should let him stay. They let Slingblade stay, but of course, his charges weren't nearly as serious as this.

About Scott--I've always thought of him as an underdog and had sympathy for him, even after his mugshot was revealed. But lately he's been wearing thin with me. By all rights, he should have left last night, not Lt. Dan, but oh well.

I still want Scott to have a singing career, and to advance as far as possible in the competition, but this is getting ridiculous. I mean, the top three!!! That's crazy.

(BTW, that was hysterical last night when Seacrest told Scott and Constantine to stand with the group they thought they should be with and both of them jumped next to Bo and Carrie--LOL!)

As for Paula, what is up with her? Her over-the-top reaction last night just feeds the rumors that she is, shall we say, too close to some of the contestants.

That was too much, wasn't it? And not very considerate to the other performers. If Slingblade (or even Vonzelle) had been voted off, I don't think Paula would've shed a tear. Very unprofessional, IMO.

This show has more subplots than a soap opera! There's no telling what will happen next :)

holy schnikies! When Seacrest announced it was Lt. Dan I did what I call the "old lady gasp and chest grab" (huge gasp while placing my hand over my heart).

LOL--that's also known as the "Fred Sanford Shuffle". It's the big one, Elizabeth! :)

Oh and Paula--WTF?? Sobbing! Sobbing!! It really is not that serious.

I know. Lt. Dan will most likely have a decent career after this. But Paula acted like was about to walk the plank. Drama queen.

I agree completely. I'm no fan of Scott's and think he should have been gone long ago. But, speaking as someone who's also had a bit of a hard-knock life, I believe I understand why he's still there.

I hope Bo was honest with the AI producers. Conspiracy theories are running wild on the AI boards, where some are saying Constantine released the info about Bo so he (Lt. Dan) could come back. LOL! I doubt that any of this hurts the ratings one iota.

As for Paula, I've been sympathetic to her, but that was awful last night. She should be fired. Period.

Every season, so far, there's been something to rile up the fans. You're right. This is the best soap opera in town.

Have you read the article by Bo's pastor? It's from before this revelation. Interesting article. Seems to be quite close to his pastor. Here's the link: http://www.al.com/music/birminghamnews/mcolurso.ssf?/base/entertainment/1112971640102030.xml
Anyway, I guess my hope is that he's turned things around since the drug incident, and that he's been truthful going into this about his past. Whatever the case, interesting read.

Oh, and like many have said, thanks for the thread. I love getting to read what's up long before we get to see it out west!

Here's a few snippets:

One of those recruits is Harold "Bo" Bice, 29, baptized into the fold at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church last Easter.

Acton encouraged Bice to join New Hope's praise and worship band about two years ago, and supported the Helena musician wholeheartedly when Bice decided to try his luck and skill on "American Idol."

Until Bice left for Hollywood, he was a faithful presence at New Hope's casual 11 a.m. services on Sundays - playing guitar, singing and sometimes leading prayers in flip-flops.

Dennis DeYoung was the lead singer of Styx (70's-80's).

Ah, now I know who he is. Thanks.

After that he did like he always does. Raised his eyes and thanked God.

That's another thing no one but you and I seem to be willing to give Scott credit for. In his interview posted on AI, he says the first person he will thank is God.

Simon was on the Good Day L.A. program this morning, and he said that after reviewing the tapes of this week's performances, he saw something in Scott's performance that he didn't notice watching it live. Using my own words, I'll try to capture what Simon was getting at. There's an almost plaintive quality to Scott's singing. He appeals to the audience to look past his unattractive exterior to the person inside. Apparently, this is touching a chord in millions of people.

This is exactly why I like Scott. When he sings, he looks like he is really emotionally in touch with the song. The songs he choses always have special meaning for him and he sings them from the heart.

Even if he doesn't sound as good, there is always an emotional connection that touches me.

That's why I get so upset at people judging his appearance. What difference should that make when it comes right down to it?

I also wonder if all the Scott bashers because of his arrest will do the same thing to Bo. Somehow I doubt it.

John Stevens or Jon Peter Lewis?

I'd buy a CD of John Stevens.

Constantine would be great as an actor. He would be great at musicals and broadway also.

Didn't he study as an actor?

Yes, he did. He has a degree from Boston U. With all he TV exposure, and then with the national tour, Constantine and the two or three other real talents of this year's group have a good boost up on their theatrical/musical careers.

I've been watching for three seasons, and it's obvious to me that the person with the most talent does not win.

Maybe I will watch the ABC expose to find out how the winners are REALLY picked.

You noticed that too huh?

I'm waiting for Bo's mug shot. Guess there isn't one since it hasn't been posted a dozen times yet. Maybe I'll have to try a search.

I liked John Stevens too! But I love crooners. Harry Connick Jr. is one of my faves. I could listen to Frank Sinatra, Nat King cole all day long.

We must be on the same wave length. I, too doubt it. I also agree with those that have commented on Paula's behavior last night. What she did was very unprofessional. I think her behavior is what led Simon to say what he did about Scott. I think Scott got a few sympathy votes because of the pack your suitcase comment as well. People don't want these judges trying to steer them to their votes.

Yep, not only did Scott say the first person he would thank is God, he actually does that each and every week.

I do wonder how the Scott bashers are going to justify continuing to attack him, when Bo was arrested, not once, but TWICE.

Don't get me wrong, Bo's arrest doesn't really bother me all that much, because I believe he is sincere in his new Christianity, just as I believe Scott is sincere.

But fair is fair! :-)

His degree is from Boston U? I'm with Randy a bit in thinking the rocker thing isn't all that sincere.

Maybe he just needs to let his inner "broadway" come out.
