the producers each year keep bringing back this 70's schlock....Yeah, I know. But at least they haven't gone back to the 60's yet--their favorite decade. As long as they don't go back any further than the 70's it's a step in the right direction :)

"Why not have them sign Gregorian chants?"
LOL PLEASE not the same one we've heard over and over during the this whole pope process!
To: silent_jonny
I think they called them "wildcards".
Each judge got to pick one singer who was previously rejected.
I thought that Simon picked Clay, but according to this thread, he didn't like him.
Anybody know which judge picked whom?
To: texasflower
WHAT? I didn't think you were being mean, I thought it was funny and glad you did too. I actually like HallinOats, just having fun.

You sure are up late. Hey flower girl!
Publishers' 'deadlines.' Ugh.
They should call them 'love limits.'
Won't change the pressure, but it sounds more fun.

Hilarious! Quote of the week!

I didn't like anyone last night, but that's because I hate 70's disco music.
Tonight--Anwar must go! He is too girly! I always expect him to come out singing "I Feel Pretty".

Anwar will probably be the one to go. As much as I'd love to see Slingblade-Scott booted, he did better this week and for some reason he keeps "hangin' on." He must have the wife-beaters and fat people's vote.... I can hear it now...."Yo Bitch, <>, get me a ham sandwich NOW!! Can't you see I'm on the $@#*% phone trying to cast my vote for Scott?? What!! No freakin' mustard!! <<>>> now make me a new one or I'll throw this phone at you!"

In anticipation of tonight's show (they announce tonight, right?) please allow me to apologize for my rude behavior last night.
I reread the thread looking at it as tflower noted and saw that I was rude when I called into question the taste and ability of the posters on the thread.
It is one thing to gig the singers and even have fun at their expense. And it is mandatory we do so for Randy, Paula and Simon. That is pretty much part of the whole deal.
But I was wrong when I suggested that differences of opinion mean anything other than that.
I don't know what got into me. I am not usually that mean-spirited.
Please accept my apology and I promise that I might laser in on some clunkers, but those clunkers will be on the show, not on my FRiends in one of my favorite places to be when I can't be at home.
It'll be fun.
My prediction: Anwar. Slingblade is like Chris on The Apprentice or that wonderful old couple on TAR -- they keep just making it by a hair.
Talk to everyone soon.
:)

Hi freedumb! Your apology is certainly accepted. That was really charming of you to do that.
This thread is definitely one of the most fun on FR, and it's great to have friends like you.
So you think Anwar goes tonight? That's sorta what I was thinking.
He's good such a nice appealing voice, but he seems to be predictable and boring sometimes, but I liked his performance last night better than the other times.
For some reason I'm nervous about tonight and have no idea why.
Maybe the show has reached the point where I have formed some sort of attachment to all of them for one reason or the other and it makes me sad for any of them to lose.
Well, except Constantine. He still creeps me out. :-)

I really liked Anwar in the early rounds. But I was starting to notice he was channeling Stevie Wonder a bit, but last night, as I said, he kept stepping away from the mic.
I understand your nervousness.
And I think I know why you think Connie is a little creepy -- he keeps trying to make love to the camera with his eyes. You can see it going thru his mind: "you love me baby, of course you do."

he kept stepping away from the mic That's the kind of stuff I never notice. Stuff like that and the band being too loud or the background singers drowning them out and I still have no idea what pitch means! That's where knowledgeable music people like you teach me things.
American Idol is playing on a continuous loop in the other room right now. (and has been for about three hours!) My daughter was watching it and when she left she didn't turn it off, and I'm too lazy to go in there and do it, so next time Anwar comes on, I'll have to go pay more attention.
You can see it going thru his mind: "you love me baby, of course you do."
YES! That's exactly what he seems to be saying. YUCK!

a show that appeals to millions of teens and pre-teens..so you have three 40 and 50 y.o. judges...two of who are incoherent..and you have the contestants singing songs they never heard ofI have wondered about the same thing. It just seem odd that they would do songs that none of the main players have ever heard of. Weird.
