I agree.

I agree.

(a little double-post humor :)

I want Carrie to win the whole shebang now. Before I wavered between her and Bo, but if Bo keeps turning in performances like last night's, well ...

Yes as much as it grieves me to admit it, Bo was a disappointment. Sorry bout the double post. My trigger finger was a bit itchy.

Well, the showmanship this year is better than any of the preceding years.

IIRC, all but one or two of the participants this year is over the age barrier setup before???

A little maturity goes a long way (btw, I am rooting for both the rockers -- none of the women really trip my trigger [and I am very straight ;) ])

She seems like a really nice person.

I've always liked Paula. I hope it's medication that's causing her odd behavior and not something worse.

AI raised the age limit this year from 25 to 29 (I think).

I think you're right about the age thing.

One of the reasons that I lean toward Carrie is that she looks almost exactly like my oldest daughter, so I have the mom thing going on with her also.

But I do like the way she sounds. A rocker would be a change of pace for sure.

Kelly Clarkson has become more of a rocker according to my daughter.

Me too. :( Alcohol mixed with those painkillers would be bad.

Last season there was talk that Simon wanted to do a separate AI for thirty somethings. Have you heard anymore to that rumor? To me that would be a great idea. Of course being 30+ myself I have to admit sometimes I get a little jealous that these kids are 10 yrs. younger than me.

I hope Carrie stays into the competition until the near end. Personally, I'm voting now for Bo, Constantine and Nikko.

I've never heard of that--it might be a good idea. But other Idol spinoffs have bombed. Remember Junior American Idol (or whatever it was called) a couple summers ago? Barf!

What were they smoking when they made this Ford ad?

Remember, because of last week's "accident", the contestants had one fewer day to prepare. My guess is that that picked something the contestants could do a quick voice-over on, and had stand-in "puppets" actually do the commercial so that they could drop the shoot from the contestants' schedule.

They did something similar last year, with paper cutouts, if I recall, after they got bumped one night for a speech from "W".

There goes one of my final four picks. Geez, listen to her sing--she doesn't deserve to go.

Of course she does. She's essentially pitted herself head-to-head with Carrie, a contest she is going to lose badly every time. Her song choices and arrangements have been hideous -- they not only interrupt any kind of rhythm or momentum she had, but they also just flat-out sound wrong. Plus, for all of the faults of the voting demographic, "barfly" is not a style they see as a good role model.

Personally, I would have dumped Anwar or Scott this week, but I am in no way surprised or disappointed that it was Jessica.

A French Horn player talking about being in tune? That's like asking a Democrat to talk about morality!

;)

(Q: What's the definition of a "minor second"? A: Two french horn players attempting unison...)

LOL

Sort of like the oboe -- an Ill Wind that Nobody Blows Good.

I think USA Today called here the "stealth candidate" and basically said they could not figure out why she had made it into the finals. I agreed -- she had all the stage presence of a dishrag.

Glad you took in good humor. As for myself, I'm a (recovering) baritone horn/euphonium player. There are no jokes about us because most of the rest of the band/orchestra pretend we don't exist anyway.

Jessica didn't deserve to go last night. It just proves what is obvious to adults who visit the AI boards, though. Pre-teens and younger teens rule the voting -- and they parrot the judges (especially Simon) constantly.

Example: The judges keep boosting Nikko, even though the man can't sing -- unless one considers ultra sharp (as in off-key sharp, not cool), not-quite-falsetto, tuneless noise as singing. He's not quite as bad as Mikalah, but close. But because the judges have been talking him up, better singers are biting the dust.

On the other hand, unless we're in for a true shocker later in the competition, the top three are almost certainly going to be Carrie, Constantine and Bo. Below that, it's anyone's guess what order they'll go, although I think Vonzell will make it into the top four if she continues to improve.

The only reason I pick Carrie, Bo and Constantine as the top three is because: (1) Carrie has the only truly good voice in the competition, even though her stage presence leaves a lot to be desired, and (2) the AI boards show that millions of young girls have crushes on Bo and Constantine.

Personally, I still don't have a favorite. By this time in season 1, Kelly was by far my favorite (and still is). In season 2, it was Clay, and last year it was Fantasia. This year so far, none of them do it for me.

BTW, Billboard's weekly updates are out this morning. Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" (the album), "Since You Been Gone" (the song), and "Breakaway" (the song) all certified double platinum this week. Kelly's "Breakaway" album went double platinum in just 17 weeks and is still going strong. It's been in the top 10 most of this year, so far, and just had a 38% jump in sales this past week.

She's just starting her first solo tour, and all but two of the 30+ venues have been sold out for weeks. She's also very hot on the radio and has gotten vastly more airplay than any other AI winner or finalist.

Without doing the phony studio-made vocals of most "artists," and without resorting the cheap, tasteless pop-tart image of so many female singers these days, Kelly has become the #1 pop vocalist in the nation.

"The cucumber one is sliced cucumbers and thinly sliced onions that have been marinated in vinegar"

Yeah, that's really one of my favorites and when the urge strikes to have that particular sandwich, nothing else will satisfy.

I actually let the combination marinate overnight in full strength apple cider vinegar if possible. Butter is also key and needed to get a little relief from the zing of the vinegar. Oh----and salt and pepper.

"I put a lot of trust in you ......."

Well that's your first mistake---lol! Nooooo, thanks, I appreciate the trust, and if the urge ever strikes again let me know how it turns out.

Onward and upward---who knows perhaps the sweet pickle and peanut butter one isn't far behind!
