Hope you had a Happy Birthday, Jonny, and may you have many more!
Or Elimidate! lol
If the data is correct, then next week they 'should' move up into the top 50 (theoretically) so that they can be seen.
As you said earlier, music affects different people differently. I didn't care for that song at all. I found it boring.
Carrie had an earache, apparently.
Two in the Top 6 of the Pop 100 at the same time (as Kelly has) is just insanely successful for an artist. They have to give her a very strong look.
She's sang a couple of versions with different arrangements (including with just piano accompaniment). I think the version on her CD will be a bit more countrified than what we've heard already.
Speaking of Constantine, the "hardcore" Pray for the Soul of Betty frontman has no piercings or tattoos.
Best Buy used to let you listen to CD's before buying them. Do any stores still do that?
I think I figured out why I disliked so many of Constantine's performances. I think he needed to decide what he was going to do for each song. Sing or act. I think at times he was trying to do both and it just turned me off of him completely.
I think he might have been auditioning to not be the next American Idol, but for something else. So, maybe it was all on purpose.
You'll be able to hear a 30 second sample lots of places online-- iTunes, amazon.com, etc.
30 seconds isn't much and for some songs really not enough. I seldom if ever download music.
Maybe. He was in that play 'Rent'. Maybe he is looking to do Broadway/musicals.
In the end, the country got Carried away. Carie Underwood-the 22-year-old country-singin' sweetheart from tiny Checotah, Oklahoma-triumphed over more experienced Alabama rocker Bo Bice, 29, in the fourth-season finale of Fox's American Idol as 36 million fans watched. TV Guide caught up with an ecstatic Underwood moments after her win last month.
Q:What were you thinking when you heard you had won?
Carrie: "Before (host) Ryan (Seacrest) siad my name, I thought about peekin' at the (results) card. Then I was like, 'Nooo.' (Laughs) It took me a second to realize he called my name. Then I tought, 'How on earth am I gonna sing?' (She performed her first single 'Inside Your Heaven') I was so emotional."
Q: So you didn't expect to win?
Carrie: "I kinda prepared myself either way. I didn't wanna go in like, 'I'm gonna win' and then have it not hapen. Bo's so wonderful. I think it was probably very close.
Q: You've said Bo's like you big brother. Did you guys click right away?
Carrie: "We're both Southern and we were among several city folk, so yeah."
Q: What other finalist did you bond with?
Carrie: "Lindsey (Cardinale). She's from Louisiana, so we latched on to each other real quick.
Q: Were you intimidated performing at the Kodak Theatre for the finale?
Carrie: "The first time I stepped on stage, I almost lost it. If you put all the crowds I've ever played in front of all together, it would not equal the size of that crowd. And it's where the Oscars are held!
Q: Were you nervous to perform with Rascal Flatts?
Carre: "I guess people expect stars to be arrogant, but oh gosh, they were so nice. They were like, 'We're behind you 1,000 percent.'"
Q: Simon Cowell predicted you'd win early on. Did that make you more confident?
Carrie: "If I had been sitting there watching, I probably would've been like, 'Excuse me? It's really early to be sayin' that'. I took it as a compliment, because in previous seasons I tended to agree with him, but it also worried me a bit."
Q: There's been some criticism that you're a little wooden.
Carrie: "I know my performance skills aren't like Bo's. I need to work on that. I mean, I've never been in a situation like American Idol before. I performed a little bit in hight school at county fairs and some music festivals, but when I got to college, I kind of quit."
Q: Why?
Carrie: "I thought, 'OK, Carrie, some dreams are supposed to be dreams. Time to grow up and go to college and get a real job.' But I prayed about it. I was like, 'If this is what I'm supposed to do, then the right doors will open up.' And they did."
Q: Would you like to finish college?
Carrie: "I spent three and a half years working toward (a journalism degree), so it's not something I wanna throw away. And who knows? Something horrible could happen and I could never be able to sing again."
Q: What kind of album do you want to make?
Carrie: "Country. I'll just listen to a whole bunch of songs and see which ones stand out to me."
Q: Have you gotten used to being a household name yet"
Carrie: "I don't think you can get used to that. I honestly hope I don't. I mean, I know where I come from and I really wanna keep people around who remind me of that. If I can do that, I think it's gonna be fun."
Sorry for not correcting the typos. I just copied this over from another site.
The only two AI-related albums in the top 50 are Kelly's "Breakaway," and the Season 4 compliation album. Kelly moves back into the top 10 with the strongest sales increase of the leading albums. "Breakaway" jumped from #15 last week to #9 this week, with a +15% sales increase, selling a remarkable 69,376 in its 27th week of release. Only one other album saw a sales increase this week, Gwen Stefani's rap album "Love, Angel, Music, Baby." It's sales are being driven by the only top single on the album, "Hollaback Girl."
The American Idol Season 4 album saw a steep sales decline of -30%, dropping from #19 to #25 with only 38,250 units sold. To put this in perspective, Kelly's "Breakaway" sold 31,126 more units than AI Season 4 this week. It is the weakest-selling group album of the four AI seasons. If it keeps dropping at this rate, it will be out of the top 50 quickly.
Time will tell if this weakness carries over to sales for this year's winner and runner-up.
A final note for now: If the info from the AI boards is accurate that both Carrie's and Bo's singles debuted on BB at #60 and #63, I won't be able to report anything until (unless) they rise into the top 50. This is because only the top 50 singles are available on BB's public website. A subscription is needed to see complete data. In any case, I will keep an eye out for us re their actual sales.
That's a nice article. Thanks for posting it. My only one fear about her now is that she was a journalism student. Thank heavens she didn't cross over to the dark side.!!
It should make her a better interviewee.
