Yep. that's pretty yucky. They couldn't give it to the veteran's families or children's hospital. Had to give it to UNICEF.! Okay it's official there is NOTHING on tv.! jonny, did you see my earlier post about Last Comic Standing? Did you ever watch it?

She's is surprisingly talented. Even though she has that dark look about her. LIke she's always in a sour mood.

Apparently that Avril girl wrote "Breakaway".

Oh, okay. Maybe it's just me, but every time I see Avril I smell cigarettes.

Actually, Breakaway was written by two songwriters and Avril Lavigne-- an artist I pointed silent_jonny to in an earlier reply on music I'm listening to currently. Kelly co-wrote 6 of the songs on the album (Behind These Hazel Eyes, Because of You, Addicted-- which, IMO, is very impressive songwriting, Where Is Your Heart, Walk Away, and Hear Me).

Yep, I'm logging off too. "Hit Me Baby" is a poor substitute for AI, but it was better than nothing :)

Night.

I made note of the music you were telling jonny about. I'm making a list... and then I'm going shopping!

Well, see if you can listen to samples first. You may not care for pop-rock music like those albums/singers.

Don't worry, I'm doing just that. In fact, I'm listening to some of it now. :-)

You are so direct and opinionated but in a very thoughtful non-aggressive, non-offense manner.

Thank YOU, texasflower. Your #10,345 was very kind. My interest is never to try to shove my opinions down the throats of others. Rather, it is to express my viewpoint in the best way I can, and then let others decide for themselves what they think about it.

I sure do understand why people like Carrie, and why she won. As I said many times, she deserved to win. I can't put into words whatever turned me off her. It's something visceral. Everyone who looks at this photo will see something different. Rightly or wrongly, what I see are a cold, hard, wary pair of eyes in a beautiful face sporting a Mona Lisa-like smile. I simply can't get past what, to me, are a dead pair of eyes.

Agreed on "Addicted." Did you read my post on it up the page?

Sorry I'm so tardy responding to your question and posts. I started a new job on the 16th, and can't use the internet at all at work. That plus the fact that I'm in the Pacific time zone makes it hard for me to respond quickly during the work week.

Anyway, yes, I did see your comments about "Addicted." I agree with you completely. It's a terrific song performed wonderfully by Kelly. I also like your comment that Kelly "sounds more awesome when she's a choir." What a great way of putting it!

Y'all still here? Do we need an AI "Betty Ford Clinic"?

Apparently I do!! Glad to see I'm not the only AI lunatic here, though ... I step away from my computer for two days and what, there's another 200 posts? Just can't let our faves go, can we? :)

BTW, as I write this Bo is up to #2 on Amazon.com, bumping the Simon Cowell produced Il Divo down to #3. Carrie has risen to #10.

As others have pointed out, we won't know how they're really doing until actual sales numbers start coming in and are reported by Billboard and other such orgs. They won't be on Hits Daily Double at all, because HDD only tracks albums.

As promised, here's the latest from Billboard, which updated its charts today. Billboard updates on Thursdays, but confusingly puts the following Saturday's date on the charts. So, for example, today's new charts are dated Saturday, June 11.

I'll just report AI-related stuff. If you want to see all the chart data, go here. FYI: You have to be a Billboard subscriber to see complete charts. For example, only the top 50 albums on the Hot 200 chart are listed on the public site. So I can't report how AI alumni who are lower down the charts are doing.

On the Billboard Hot 200 album chart, Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" is #14 after 26 weeks on the chart, same spot it was in last week. "American Idol Season 4: The Showstoppers" is in the 18th spot after dropping from #6 last week. This is it's 2nd week on the charts.

On the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" holds the #1 spot after nine weeks on the chart. Kelly Clarkson's "Behind These Hazel Eyes" has the Greatest Sales Gainer bullet and rises to #6 from #8 last week, after eight weeks in release as a single. Kelly also has the distinction of being the only artist with TWO songs in the top 10 on the Hot 100 singles chart. Her "Since You Been Gone" is at #9 after 26 weeks in release as a single.

More amazingly, Kelly has a third single in the top 40 -- again, the only artist with more than one song in the top 50. Her little song that could, "Breakway," the single, rose slightly to #38 from #40 last week, after 42 weeks on the charts. It is by far -- by far -- the highest selling pop single of the last 12 months, and by far has had the longest stay on the Hot 100 chart, so far never falling out of the top 40.

"Behind These Hazel Eyes" also is the Greatest Sales Gainer on the Billboard Pop 100 singles chart, where it sits at #4. "Since You Been Gone" is #6 on this chart.

"Behind These Hazel Eyes" is #2 and "Since You Been Gone" #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart.

Fantasia's single "Free Yourself" rose to #9 from #12 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. Her single "Truth Is" fell to #13 from #9 on the same chart. However, Fantasia has had modest success in this genre. "Truth Is" has been successful and is still doing well in it's 28th week on this chart. However, Fantasia has not broken out of this genre.

Kelly's "Since You Been Gone" is #3 on the Adult Top 40 chart.

Approaching Celine Dion's all-time record for consecutive weeks at #1 on the Adult Contemprary chart, Kelly's "Breakaway" is still #1 after 13 consecutive weeks at that spot, and after 38 weeks on the chart.

Word is that Clay Aiken either has finished or will soon record his 2nd CD (not counting his Christmas CD released this past holiday season). That's all for this week.

Any other CDs you'd recommend?

One's taste is music is highly individual and personal. So its hard to recommend something without knowing what you enjoy. If you like country/rock, try the album by Montgomery Gentry. I don't know the name of it, but it's the album from which the really terrific country/rock song "Gone" was released as a single. Gretchen Wilson is the hot new artist in country/rock. You might try her "Here for the Party" album. Staying with the country genre, if you like something more soulful, try Keith Urban's "Be Here", which I think is the album that has the hauntingly beautiful "Making Memories of Us" on it (the #1 country song now).

I'm not normally a big country music fan, but do like the country/rock stuff some people are doing lately. Other than Kelly, there's nothing in the pop genre that I like these days. And I hate the so-called urban music genre: rap, hip-hop and modern R&B.

Hey if any of ya'll hear about any upcoming things from my boys Scott or Anthony would you let me know please?

Will do. The best place to get news on various AI alumni is the AI boards. If I come across something, I'll pass it along.
