Well I will continue to post useless prattle to help you get to that goal! :) I wish i had more useful information like Wolfstar or texasflower, but alas I'm just a freeper nerd. I think I need an intervention! Hey jonny do you know if Last Comic Standing will be on this summer? I liked the first season with Ralphie May. You probably never watched it though.
Addicted is really amazing. It has an Amy Lee feel to it. She sings with despair and self-loathing and desperation all throughout the song. You almost want to give her a lift to rehab.
It's like you're a drug
It's like you're a demon I can't face down
It's like I'm stuck
It's like I'm running from you all the time
And I know I let you have all the power
It's like the only company I seek is misery all around
It's like you're a leech
Sucking the life from me
It's like I can't breathe
Without you inside of me
And I know I let you have all the power
And I realize I'm never gonna quit you over time
It's like I can't breathe
It's like I can't see anything
Nothing but you
I'm addicted to you
It's like I can't think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts
In my dreams
You've taken over me
It's like I'm not me
It's like I'm not me
It's like I'm lost
It's like I'm giving up slowly
It's like you're a ghost that's haunting me
Leave me alone
And I know these voices in my head
Are mine alone
And I know I'll never change my ways
If I don't give you up now
It's like I can't breathe
It's like I can't see anything
Nothing but you
I'm addicted to you
It's like I can't think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts
In my dreams
You've taken over me
It's like I'm not me
It's like I'm not me
I'm hooked on you
I need a fix
I can't take it
Just one more hit
I promise I can deal with it
I'll handle it, quit it
Just one more time
Then that's it
Just a little bit more to get me through this
I'm hooked on you
I need a fix
I can't take it
Just one more hit
I promise I can deal with it
I'll handle it, quit it
Just one more time
Then that's it
Just a little bit more to get me through this
It's like I can't breathe
It's like I can't see anything
Nothing but you
I'm addicted to you
It's like I can't think
Without you interrupting me
In my thoughts
In my dreams
You've taken over me
It's like I'm not me
It's like I'm not me
And you were worried we wouldn't get to 10K!
I truly liked Carrie earlier this season. She was my favorite to win it all almost from the beginning. Given the point of AI, she definitely deserved to win.
But somewhere along the line in the last four or five weeks, something turned for me. I still can't quite pin it down. As I've posted before, it started the night she came out looking like a grown-up JonBenet Ramsey. That look was repulsive to me.
Carrie is a beautiful young woman with a lovely singing voice. She should do very well in the industry. I'm a fair person and a fan of AI, so I'm even open to buying her CD if there's music on it that I like. But as far as Carrie, the person, is concerned, I find myself disliking her more and more as time goes by.
I see her as plastic, cold, slick and unable to bring the slightest bit of feeling or warmth to her music. I want music to move me -- to touch my heart in that silent place we all have that feels most intensely our joy, sorrow, pain and pleasure. Carrie has had months of appearing on my TV twice a week to move me, but she never has, despite her physical beauty, her lovely smile, and her equally lovely singing voice.
What can I say. We all react differently to performers and to music.
BTW, that cover photo for her single has a very hard, almost masculine look to it. To me, that's the real Carrie.
Thanks for the updated Amazon figures. Of course, to compare "Breakaway," Kelly's 2nd CD and a multi-platinum seller that's been out over 6 months to pre-sales for singles by two new artists isn't fair to Carrie or Bo. The amazing thing about "Breakaway" is that it's still selling so well after being out so long. Just as a point of contrast for Kelly, superstar Jennifer Lopez' CD, which came out a couple of months ago, has faded badly.
Agreed about "Vehicle." I would have bought the single if they put the a cappella song on it. I don't plan to by either Carrie's or Bo's version because I don't like the music.
Scott actually does have some talent. What he needs most of all is a top-notch manager and an equally top-notch vocal coach. His appeal is to the angry, edgy, urban teenage crowd. With the right songs and management, he could carve out a nice little career for himself. However, I doubt he'll attract the kind of management he would need.
LOL! I forgot all about her trademark flower.
What we each like in music is a highly personal and individual thing. So I can't promise you'll like "Breakaway." But what I can recommend is this: try to notice the background vocals. They are all Kelly. She had no backup singers. Every vocal part is her voice. My personal favorite on the CD is a song called "Addicted." No, it's not about drugs, but about being addicted to someone you love. "Behind These Hazel Eyes" is the 3rd single released from the CD. The first two singles "Breakaway" and "Since You Been Gone" have gone double platinum.
Y'all still here? Do we need an AI "Betty Ford Clinic"?
Yes, an AI "Betty Ford Clinic" would be helpful. I logged on for just a couple of minutes, had to check this thread and now I've got to get offline.......BUT I'LL BE BACK!
So am I.....I have nothing to do in the evenings now....
Unconfirmed rumor that Jennifer Wilbanks has a GREAT voice, and that she's going to try out for next season's AI if they raise the age limit..(G)..seriously..how many of the final 12 would have been excluded under the old rules?
That's another good point that I had noticed last night when I was listening to the album carefully. Kelly has an awesome voice and she sounds more awesome when she's a choir. Agreed on "Addicted." Did you read my post on it up the page?
Constantine, Bo and Nadia would have all been shut out. Nadia was the oldest of the three.
And I'd add that if you thought about it some, you'd probably come up with those 3 names on your own based on how much more comfortable they are performing on a stage than the others who are younger.
Thanks..
I like this section of the song a lot. She sings like she's about to cry because she's so sick of this past relationship occupying her life so completely and she can't think of anything at all to make it go away for good.
Here's Tamyra Gray's new song. It's R&B, which I don't really like so much, but I thought I'd post this link for those who do like it.
