...overthrowing the government (right or wrong) exemplifies “good, Republican values”.

Overthrowing an OPPRESSIVE government, Yes. That, quite frankly, is what founded this nation.

Tax revolts, keeping your hard earned money, and overthrowing oppressive governments are all GOOD Republican Values!

Rob Roy was my favorite movie in all categories. I liked the part at the end when the pansy government patsy got sliced in two by McGregor (Liam Neeson) who only wanted to keep his land, his cattle and his wife and children.

Any time a person is honorable in a film....it's a conservative film!

Robin did not take from the rich .. he took from the government to give back to the people.

"Rob Roy was my favorite movie in all categories...Any time a person is honorable in a film....it's a conservative film!"

I never saw the movie, mostly because the name of it sucked. Who idiot named that movie?

Along the lines of your last comment, you have to include Gladiator... "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next."

Rob Roy was a hero of Scotland. It would be kinda the same as naming a movie George Washington, or Nathan Hale.

overthrowing the government (right or wrong) exemplifies “good, Republican values”.

Whoa there. I never made a normative value judgment on whether the gov't was good or bad. I was making a descriptive observation about the difference between "redistribution" and undoing a redistribution scheme.

The question of whether or not it is moral to rebel against a government of course rests on 1) whether the gov't is good or bad and 2) whether it can be changed by less violent means

So what your basically saying is that overthrowing the government (right or wrong) exemplifies “good, Republican values”. Well then I stand corrected. My bad. :~D

Overthrowing oppressive governments, like dictatorships and monarchy's, well yea I'm in. "Cause when you talk about destruction don't you know that you can count me out.... in." - revolution(slow version)

How about Quigley Down Under.

It had a good Republican star (Tom Selleck) who plays
a man best in the world at his specialty (sniping) who
takes a stand when asked to kill Aborigines rather than
dingos. After getting beaten and left for dead, he takes
his revenge while protecting those he'd been hired to kill.
Gets the girl in the end.
