We did too... they were just... really, really big.
WSU had an Amdahl 7000... pretty much the state of the art at the time. Those big spinning tape drives held almost a whole *megabyte* of data at a time. Heck... that thing had about 64 *whole megabytes* of RAM. [sigh] But then again, thats back when a dedicated modem connection of 2400bps was considered a "high speed" WAN. Most modems ran at 300bps. I miss those days. :-)
You = you personally. I got "my" first own private computer when I was 10, a hand-me-down from Dad. Had been using them since I was 6 or so which is why I am one of the few people my age who remembers things like Windows 3.1 or DOS games.
