Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

ecurbh - that is a great pic, Gypsygirl waves paw at Homer, we're glad you both made a place for Homer in your heart and your home.

The use of simple handtools is becoming a lost art, glad you instructed them how it is done.
"He who splits his own wood is warmed twice" Thoreau I think.

I avoid Worcester as much as I can, so it hasn't bothered me. ;o)
I've been hearing about it on the local radio station, when I've had ti on for news, but that's the most I've paid attention.

I saw that movie mentioned on HBO. We'll have to check it out.
Watched Equilibrium again tonight. LOVE that movie, even though it is a Matrix rip-off.
Mmmm...Sean Bean quoting Yeats.

hey, you can sleep when yer dead...A phrase I often use, having picked it up from my father. People give me really strange looks.
Argh, had a last minute realization that I only have one dress suitable for Palm Sunday and Easter, so I had to run out and pick up a cheap skirt/blouse combo. I hate when that happens.

heh... I been asked tuh play a disciple in our Maundy Thursday service... I said, "which disciple was a gimp?... mebbe I should play a lame guy or a leper..."
"Is it I, Lord?"
Just back from pickin' up Jr. They got back early. That was equalized by the fact that he had a friend ask for a ride home to her Dad's house. 'Course it was 30 minutes in the other direction. And she didn't know how to get there.
Thank you, Lord for giving me two sons.

the shoot went well, no incidents... I think my safety brief was quite effective... traumatizing, yet effective...My first safety lesson was watching my dad vaporize a pumpkin (my grandparents did not grow watermellons) with his 12 ga. I'll also put on a similiar demo for newbies, if there is appropriate produce available. I also let each student fire one shot without ear protection, to show them how important ear protection is.
Oh, and I found a tag line that I might steal: We use 43 muscles to frown, 17 to smile, and 2 to pull a trigger. I'm lazy and I'm tired of smiling.

I also let each student fire one shot without ear protection... At various times I have been...privileged to be in the presence of a .380 ACP (mine, liked it, wish I still had it), a .38 SPL and a .45ACP (other peoples') and a 155mm howitzer (Uncle Sam's; I was about 50 feet away), without ear protection when they were fired. The .380 was an experiment on my part that I resolved not to repeat; the remainder were surprises.

now I got tinitus in both ears... funny how I can look you in the eye at 10' and not unnerstnd yuh sometimes, but I can hear a deer walkin' in the woods at 100 yds in a high wind...

Why on earth does the choir have to be at church a whole hour early this morning? I'm clueless. Argh. And tired and sore.

Mmmmm.. indirect fire.
I recently learned a joke. This is significant because I can't remember most jokes for more than a few minutes.
But:
What is an artilleryman's favorite word?
....... WHAT???
To: Overtaxed
Afternoon OT - Can't give much advice on that since we don't have any. We'd plant 'em out of the wind though.
To: g'nad

M198 155mm Howitzers. These belong to 11th Marine Regiment, according to the source.
3rd Bn 8th FA Regiment, 18th FA Brigade, XVIII Airborne Corps, US Army, used these in GW I.

Times have sure changed, I shot on the Knights of Columbus rifle team in high school, in a basement range, .22 rifle. Ear protection? What's that.
To: osagebowman
I thought about on the fence or along the west side of the house but then I wouldn't be able to see them from the inside. I'm putting off backyard landscaping until the sunroom is in.
I finished sanding the patches and wiped down all the walls. Time for lunch!
