Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

They are beautiful, aren't they? I love the name "fairy basslet." Inhabitants of coral reefs in tropical and subtropical waters around the world.
The aquarium store owner told me that fairy basslets were too aggressive to have more than one of in a tank at a time. Then I saw about 100 of them in a tank together at a wholesalers. So now I will get 5 or 6 at a time, no problem at all.

Argh! That thingy jigger on the roof (that spins, you know?) is squealing again. Drives me bananas. Steve put some WD40 on it last weekend and lasted till last night. Is it this guy?

You know that's back on Broadway. Harvey Fierstein is playing Tevye.

Thanks. I'll look at that too.

Yep, that works well, too. It found a few things on my computer that nothing else found, and since they have the big bucks, I think they're a bit better about adding new crap as it comes out...

I installed it after a thread about it and it's been running and scanning and updating ever since... It's never found anything, but then I've never had anything on mine.

The one thing the Microsoft Spyware doesn't seem to find is all the bad registry entries. And it doesn't look at cookies, either. I've let my deadly duo of anti-spyware tools become a terrible trio, but they do all have uses.
Morning! Got the internet changed to the new place. My kitchen is put away. Nothing else can be until the actual furniture is down her. Have been looking at the layout... at least until Rosie gets here the livingroom's going to be a combination livingroom/office because there's just not much room in the bedroom. Well, there's room, just nowhere to put a desk, really.

Our computers are in the living room. Makes sense because we live on them. I wouldn't want to be cooped up in a back room. The computers are by the largest window in the house, where we spend the most time. :~D

It all depends... only so much space, after all, and I would rather be out in the open but it might not work once Rosie gets here. Especially since I'm taking the slightly-larger bedroom with the thought that I can use it as a work room, if necessary.

We gave up on the dining room/office concept. It wasn't working. I'm not 100% happy with the arrangement because it means when Nana is downstairs we don't have access to the TV. Unless we get it first. ;-)
Then it comes down to who gets to decide what we're going to watch...

What, you don't have a "he who pays the cable bill, calls the tune" rule? Nana won't cooperate?
I think it might work for us, except on evenings when, say, Rosie wants to watch a movie and I have homework; but then I can always just take my laptop and go elsewhere. It's really more a matter of how the furniture will fit than anything else.
I've got a friend coming in half an hour or so to help with all these books and the small furniture. Hopefully we can get a lot done by lunchtime.

What, you don't have a "he who pays the cable bill, calls the tune" rule? Have you not been paying attention for the last three years?
I pay for everything. I do everything. I make everything happen. But I'm always at the end of the line.
Sorry, that sounds more whiny than I mean it to be.
But I swear, sometimes I find myself fantasizing about life after Nana "moves out." Then I get all guilty 'cause I remember exactly what that means.
But, I believe in seasons of life. It's just that this season happens to suck.

I think you've got the patience of a saint. I'd have packed Nana into the car and dropped her on the doorstep of some other - any other - relative two and a half years ago.
I hope your next season is spring...

With the right mindset, Lawrence Welk can be downright entertaining!
Of course...that mindset may require illicit substances...
